    Christmas is one of the best times of the year, but why do shops start getting their Christmas stuff in already?

    It is also important for the economy. Christmas is so important to the retail industry and with the climate the way it is so what if they start trying to sell stock early. Most businesses survive on the back of a good Christmas.

    Good points. For me though it kind of dilutes the magic when it's in the shops for a period from September to December.

    Also it's dropped like a hot snot on December 26th....when Christmas is officially only really starting.

    Couple of reasons really!
    One is Christmas is a big money maker for shops.
    Letting people spread the cost.
    Another reasons is Supermarkets in the last few years have gotten bigger and bigger and they need something to fill the shelves.

    Nobody complains when the summer holiday sales start on St. Stephens Day though.
