    Speaks a non-tanker.

The tank is the fifth person of your crew. You name it. You take care of it. It takes care of you. I gave my tank a hug after my tour. I wasn't alone.

I didn't know this. I'm fascinated by tanks ~ but don't like 'em shooting at me :(

Not informing me as I know how a gun works. Perhaps in Yiddish it's always squeeze but the common English usage is to pull a trigger.

You won't hit much if you pull a trigger, a trigger is squeezed.

I think you mean a rifle, not a gun (sniper's use rifles).. And you squeeze the trigger on a rifle ~ just for your info.. I don't speak Yiddish.

Pedantry isn't conducive to good discussion.

And if you're an Israeli you hose the children's blood off it, make it nice and shiny again, award yourself some nice shiny tin medals, and make up excuses for killing civilians while puffing out your chest in your little GI joe outfit. You go back to barracks and paint another unit crest on the wall and pose in front of it. It's all part of the brainwash.

Sorry Mr.Moderator, won't do it again ~ just thought I'd mention it to the lad, a rifles trigger is squeezed and not pulled :(

Anybody familiar with using guns, into guns or into military etc will understand and use the term "Squeeze" the trigger. The normal Joe/Joesphine Soap would IMHO be more likely to use the term "Pull" the trigger.

Arguing over the use of a term is meaningless. Whether the Israeli snipers squeeze or pull their triggers the result is usually the same. Another dead unarmed, non combatant civilian. And in the case of a trained sniper, they cannot argue that they mistook the unarmed, non combatant civilian for anything other than what they were.

Welcome to yesterday's topic of conversation. Funny how many new posters we seem to have here with military training and a superiority complex...
PS: gun, rifle, squeeze, pull... get over yourselves guys.

You claimed you knew how a gun worked and then proved you didn't, you'll have to get over that yourself I'm afraid.

It might be less of a mess if it wasn't under siege with semi-starvation rations and random bombing by Israel perhaps? Or is this another day old account dig at the Palestinian people we've come to know and love?

Not at all. Happily, the people of Gaza are amongst the richest in the world, if you include the billions upon billions of dollars of Gas that lies beneath their land - Gaza. As highlighted by the BG exploration teams.

Sadly, Israel imposed a blockade on construction materials and foreign drilling teams wishing to investigate further/start extraction. Which is, erm, handy. Keep em poor and barefoot and all that...

How amazing would it be, were the people of Gaza to be driven out for good, exiled and bombed into streaming out as refugees to Egypt... then, by crazy luck, Israel started extracting the billions in gas from its "new territory"...what a happy coincidence!

From the Guardian, though if you don't like the Guardian, there's hundreds more sources saying the same thing...

" -Since the discovery of oil and gas in the Occupied Territories, resource ... held several meetings with the British Gas Group to develop the Gaza gas field, ... to manage all the natural resources nominally under the jurisdiction of the PA, ..."

Blimey, having natural resources is a dangerous thing these days, liable to get you killed as some ruthless vulture or other swoops in - lucky Iraq has none, or Iran..

    In fairness if you're going to make up a scenario like this;
I can picture IDF snipers with children in their sights muttering "ceasefire on... ceasefire off" between trigger pulls.

You can't really go getting your knickers in a twist if someone corrects you in how a rifle is discharged.

Manic, have the IDF lost any MBT's in Gaza?.. If not do you think its because of lessons learned from Lebanon '06 or because of the urban environment -V- of the wadi's of south Lebanon?.

A rifle is a type of gun except in military speak. Why would I be using military speak here? Maybe some posters are currently in uniform and think that's the norm...

You could also use UNCPCC - Unarmed, Non Combatant Palestinian Child Civilians.

Who cares about what the correct wording is for how to kill someone with a gun? Engaging in an argument about the semantics of it isn't beneficial to the argument.

Have you lads taken a wrong turn somewhere? were you looking for the military forum?

You must be under the delusion the military are the only people who use firearms, can your assumptions and prejudices get anything right ? You boasted you knew about guns and then proved you didn't. You got caught out bluffing again, get over it.

Rubbish -it is far more important to get the weapon designation correct than to give a damn who the projectile hits. One does not simply shoot someone with a gun, one discharges ones personal weapon within the framework of the current field-engagement rules. The only ones who care about that sort of stuff are the Warlords. Every army has them, sadly.

There's a pot here that wants its colour back. Any comment on reality, or the whole "gas" thing, or is that going "off topic"? Lol.

Anybody wondering why www.btselem.org seems to be off line may want to read this

    http://tinyurl.com/q3w3ptc

"The Israeli human rights group B'Tselem has concluded that footage capturing the moment two Palestinian teenagers were shot dead by Israeli soldiers despite posing no risk to them is "genuine and consistent", contradicting Israeli army claims that the footage is likely to have been forged."

"The full CCTV footage – amounting to hours of tape – was reviewed and logged by researchers for B'Tselem, which has provided copies to Israeli military police and planned to release more of the footage."

"Commenting on efforts to cast doubt on accounts of the affair in +972 online magazine, Dahlia Scheindlin, a public opinion analyst in Tel Aviv, attempted to explain recent comments: "Public figures are well aware that the postmodern mindset makes it hard to pin down facts.Throwing out theories, no matter how wild, raises doubts even if far-fetched. Using words inaccurately, or not admitting to one's actions is another form. Accusing the other side of full-out conspiracy and elaborate fabrications is another."

I thought we were in a discussion and not an argument. Tbh I'm not interested in arguments online, my time is more valuable than that.

At least we know now that a rifle trigger is squeezed and not pulled.

Regarding todays ceasefire, I think it was to open up humanitarian corridors to get food and aid to the innocents.. I've said it before, if the Israeli government really cared about Gazan civilians they'd open their damned borders and give the innocents refuge in Israel and out of harms way of the fighting ~ then let 'em kill every idiot with a beard and an AK-47 if thats what they really want.

I dread to think what limits in civilian casualties/deaths Israeli government thinks is acceptable before they bring a halt to this murderous onslaught but we're approaching 2000 deaths in three weeks without sign of a slowdown.

'Whatever war can do, peace can do better' ~ such a simple lesson, seldom learned.

I've no problem dealing with the one topic today reg posters, but there's mods using stuff clearly in breach of charter ("Mr Moderator" that's back seat modding, "knickers in a twist" that's trolling) which we'd be done for and they will never be.
Once we're in a two tier system the mods have effectively ended the discussion.
