Superfly Slick Dick by the Vengaboys.

Really out of kilter with all of their other effervescent singalong work.

Anything by Bastille, the 1975 & anyone else who sings in them faux posh London accents.

Particularly 'Pompeii'. Foundations by Kate Nash is another one. So grating.

I couldn't pinpoint why those bands wreck my head but you've just nailed it there!

I love that song, it's the essence of succinct simplicity.

Meh. Mournful dirge if you ask me. Each to their own.

The REM song that I feel lets down their whole body of work is Shiny Happy People. I hate that idiot song and it makes me feel the opposite of shiny and happy.

I wouldn't say SHP is a work of genius or anything, but the song is an obvious piss-take. It's not meant to be taken seriously.

I think I remember reading an interview where REM spoke relatively highly of Everybody Hurts and dissed SHP. However, like you, they are wrong!! :D

    Sex on ****ing fire.

I hate knobs and musical snobs that think it's cool to spout the " I only like their early stuff " bull but this song really took away a lot of my love for that band. Only coming around again now

The earlier mentioned "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen-also because it was murdered by a truly awful cover version by those poncey eejits MacFly.

I have a hatred for that song because it - the original version - was used in a crappy Club Orange advert that some of the older boardsies, like me, will probably remember.

The Walk Of Life - Dire Straits

    God but I hate it!

And 'Born In The USA' by Springsteen

Pretty much everything off in through the out door by Zepp is drivel.

No way! Fool in the rain is a classic, love that shuffle.

Not a Bruce man myself but nobody can dispute that "Radio Nowhere" is the worst song ever made.

Mine is probs Beautiful Day by U2

Odd, I love both of them. Walk of Life particularly. For myself...I love Queens of the Stone Age, but I wouldn't be gone on a few songs from Rated R and Songs for the Deaf. I like the Offspring as well, but Pretty Fly for a White Guy annoys me to no end. I don't like Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars anymore, but that's mostly from overexposure.

Edit: I'm quite partial to Radio Nowhere too actually, and I wouldn't be a huge fan of the Boss either.

    Paranoid by Black Sabbath
N17 and Useta Love Her by Saw Doctors
    Nothing Else Matters by Metallica
You Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC
    Born to Run by Springsteen
Best of You and Learn to Fly by Foo Fighters

Some songs that I've heard way too much.

    I like Radio Nowhere.

My pick is 'Girlfriend in a coma' by The Smiths, god its terrible, especially considering they have (IMHO) no weak album so it really stands out as being particularly annoying.

Anything by aerosmith. I absolutely hate them with a passion.

The second half of the late registration album by Kanye West wrecks my head too but love everything else he's done :p

    New Year's Day - U2

The piano! Ended my love of the band

Yellow by Coldplay. Anything by them really but especially that one.

Some people are writing like this is a thread about artists you don't like. It's not, its specifically about acts you think are very talented but have one song that irritates you.

OK lads, pick a band/artist you like but dislike one song to stay on topic.

    What the mass call gospel.

Killing In The Name Of - Rage Against The Machine

That song is well and truly dead for me, only so often you can hear a cover band make the song incredibly dull-sounding and watch drunken gimps mumble: "Fack yoo............I want dooo wwhat youu tale me!!" while some women dance to it like it's some sort of lounge music.

    Eurgh...

Not an all time great band but couldn't think of a song from a great band that annoys me,so going with,

Bohemian Like You by The Dandy Warhols, that song got played to death on the radio and then Vodafone had it on an ad as well, couldn't get away from it.

Queen - I Want To Ride My Bicycle

Considering some of the lyrical masterpieces from Freddie Mercury and co, this one just doesn't seem to belong. It's more like something from a wannabe Queen tribute band desperately trying to be flavour of the month before being forgotten about.

Wonderwall and Don't Look Back In Anger - hate both of them.

Love The Stone Roses but everytime Fools Gold comes on I skip straight to the next song!

Hmmm, I can't think of any great bands that annoy me.

    Did I read it right?

    Or was it badly worded?

True, it is ambiguous now that you mention it. I think most people have understood it to mean 'songs that annoy you and which were released by bands you would otherwise consider great'.
