    Journey - Don't stop believing.

Most overplayed song ever! Does my head in but I like the band apart from that one song.

    Wonderwall by Oasis.

Brilliant song ruined by drunk people at parties with guitars.

Fans by Kings of Leon. One of the worst and most annoying songs played on radio. The singers voice completely wrecks my head. Actually, I wouldn't consider Kings of Leon great at all anyway.

I second Don't Stop Believing by Journey. Too overplayed and I'm sick of it. Radio Nova seem to be the only station to realise that Journey had other songs apart from that. Their music is good in general.

Speaking of Daft Punk, Get Lucky is overplayed as well. Not a good song either.

Anything by U2. Just can't warm to them though people whose opinion on music I respect are convinced they're brilliant.

Someone just called Liam Gallagher a great singer and then deleted their post.

I think he'll appreciate me telling you this, as it seems to be a recent major discovery in the field of music, and previously this was contrary to the opinion of anyone with ears.

Was me who deleted by accident.

Anyway, yeah he must be crap sure, that whole Oasis thing never really took off.

REM's "Everything Hurts." Dreadful faux-sentimental rubbish, fortunately not at all representative of their work.

And done pretty decently by Ryan Adams.

    "Smells Like Teen Spirit"- Nirvana
    "Thunderstruck"-AC/DC
"Boys Are Back In Town"- Thin Lizzy
"In A Big Country"- Big Country
    "Don't Stop Me Now"- Queen

All great bands, used to love all the songs mentioned until radio killed them by overplaying them.

    Possibly more to follow.....

I love that song, it's the essence of succinct simplicity.

The REM song that I feel lets down their whole body of work is Shiny Happy People. I hate that idiot song and it makes me feel the opposite of shiny and happy.

Noel's version is different, but I've learned to appreciate Liam's take on this song. Sure he can be nasal at times, but the edgy/stadium anthem feel makes the song a perfect fit.

I actually don't mind hearing Don't Stop Believing as overplayed as it is. Just seems to be one of those comfort songs I just have to keep hearing to remind myself life is good.

"Hello, Goodbye" by The Beatles bugs the shít out of me.

Pretty sure that was the reaction they wanted, they were basically trolling people with that song. It's about Prozac (I think) so it's pretty much the opposite of shiny and happy. I still like it though! :D

Well, I never knew that! It explains Stipes' uncomfortable range of expressions in the video. :)

    "Parachute"- Something Happens
    "With Or Without You"- U2
    "Sweet Child O' Mine"-Gun N' Roses

    Again,thanks to the radio....

The earlier mentioned "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen-also because it was murdered by a truly awful cover version by those poncey eejits MacFly.

    Creep-Radiohead (yeah, that's what I said).

Everything, and I mean everything U2 have released since at least 1997.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,743 ✭✭✭An Riabhach

    Journey - Don't stop believing.
    .

That mob from "Glee" didn't do it any favours either, with their girly cover version of that song which was played a lot on the radio when they first did it.

Most of their later stuff is just..meh and as such am fairly ambivalent towards, but the song that actually annoys me is "The Sweetest Thing"

Cork's finest, The Fatima Mansions, did a cover of Shiny Happy People. I think they swear in one part of it...

Particularly 'Pompeii'. Foundations by Kate Nash is another one. So grating.

Thread is titled songs by "great" bands that annoy you. ;)
