So there I am having a chat with a chap in Newry when this red micra comes round the corner. The fella driving it was a pensioner, with a line of cars behind. Limit is 40 mph, he was probably doing 25. Thing is, he was doing that in 1st gear.... :pac::pac::pac::pac::pac:

Similar to what i thought so :pac: why rust a car that's known to rust?? If anything I'd be going in the opposite direction and wrapping it in rust proofing "agents"

    Each to their own though!

120Y's have that effect on people, total marmite car.
I myself used to hate Marmite but it's grown on me, just like the car. :P

It's an old RWD Datsun anyway, so I'm always going to give in.
They came with a number of engines, ranging from nail growing pace to hot for the day. 110bhp out of a 1.6 with twin carbs with 240Z flat top pistons.

Never driven one myself but as a passenger they feel great, meant to be a great car in the drivers seat too.

It's rat style / look. Definitely not the best example, but not bad. Not my favourite style of modifying a car and something I would probably never do on my own daily car, but it keeps them happy and they're nice to look at.

Rat look can be really cool if done right. That one's pretty good but the low rider rims? No way dude.

I doubt there is one left that's not held together by rust

It has been a long week....
    14570446857_bdeb0e692f_h.jpg

But when it's averaging 34mpg (brimmed, do circa 100 miles, refill, maths, repeat) it's not all bad :)

Now to find someone who does mileage correction

Does anyone know an easy way to drain coolant from a 01 c180 ? 2.0 petrol

Might need an a/c top up... when the ac is on cold its blowing warm air coming out.... full of coolant but its not a good colour so will do it anyway !

roof spoiler and sideskirts should be arriving tomorrow, those Lidl spray can primer should come in handy but I am all out of paint, need to order more. I have also fixed the scrapping of the arches by drilling a hole and pinning them with a self tapping screw(I think thats what its called, its wedge shaped).

yo dgt, is your seicento the 1.1? How do you find the engine? any issues?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,894 ✭✭✭Old diesel

It is indeed a 1.1 :) no issues I can think of, we have had it a while now and nothing major, just the usual clutch cable went but that isn't hard to change. Engine is a peach to work on although the aux belt is tight! Nice and zippy in that car, returns well into the 50's mpg wise on long runs :)

Volvo running great since a second hand maf was put in.

Trip computer is saying 13.5l/100km but needle isn't moving enough for that so i think trip is just borked :)

Could be the journey trip l/100 km which would read high on shorter trips as the engine would be cold. That's 21mpg which I'm sure it would do more that that on any short of longish trip.

Cool. Looking at replacing the Merc with a mid 00's Panda. It has that same 1.1 engine.
