Wouldnt normally comment on this type of thing but that statement is utter nonsense, Oriel (& its immediate environs) is easily the worst ground I've ever been to on the island of Ireland for trouble... my own father (in his 70's) has been spat at, abused & threatened up there (whilst sat in the stand) on more than one occasion, I've yet to see any elderly supporter visiting Tallaght subjected to the behaviour I've experienced first hand in Oriel Park.... & i can assure you we are far from the the only visiting fans to have received such levels of abuse. Its one of the reasons why I stopped travelling to games there. I'll go to any other LOI ground but there nowadays.

To say that Oriel is worse than Tallaght for trouble is laughable.

Since we got promoted over 5 years ago, There has been trouble at Oriel on 4 occasions, 3 times Shamrock Rovers and once Vs Bohs

The only away ground their has been trouble at, ironically is Tallaght!

To be honest the argument is very relative. I don't think you can count the number of occasions of 'trouble' to be honest. If someone spat at someone else for example, but it didnt involve 5 or 10 people, it's still trouble but 99% of people there wouldn't even know it.

As a Bohs man the strange thing is we get more trouble in Oriel than we do in Tallaght, reasons prob to do with the Garda operation in Tallaght being ridiculous for those games.

I think the Garda operation in Tallaght is spot on. Dundalk is just ridiculous. The winning team usually gets kept back in Tallaght as they clear the disappointed fans and let the winning team fans' celebrate a bit. 10 minutes later you're out and escorted to the Luas/Square car park. There's zero chance of trouble in this scenario unless it's agreed beforehand to meet a good while away and scrap.

In Dundalk you're held back for about half an hour, with no cover from rain, and when you come out there's loads of fans still there and you're left with an open walk to your, even sometimes vandalised, car.

Mate of mine from Dublin buys scarfs of the opposing teams for a 5er n keeps them in the boot. When he parks up he puts the scarf on the dash so when the scumbags see his D reg and are about the break up the car they see their own teams colours on the dash and bypass the car ;)

Tallaght is definitely worse for trouble than Oriel, no question.

The local lads don't bother coming out for Shels probably. There's a element of local lads from country towns turning out for big Dublin clubs sometimes .

Or the 50 or Shamrock Rovers fans turning up in Tallaght after the Setanta Cup final to try and attack the Dundalk fans

We've all being going to games long enough to throw incidents around.

The point im making, If you took 10 instances of trouble at Dundalk games, 8 times out of the 10 it will have involved either Rovers, Coincidence?

That's the point I was making. A lot of the time lads (sometimes not even supporters) turn out for Rovers.

Funnily enough as well the amount of terror stories always seems to be in proportion to how well the team is doing like Dunbalk now. Like Sligo don't have all these World War 3 stories anymore since they became mediocre.

We're not worthy of your filth coming up to us to throw bottles in packed pubs anymore. A crying shame.

This exact conversation happens all the time here. There's one common denominator every time trouble is mentioned though.

The common denominator is that 90% of the time it involves Shamrock Rovers

That's clearly incorrect, and I say that as a Bohs fan.

Rico to take over Drogs from monday with Darius as assistant.

Drogs programs will be called novels.

Dundalk have scored 50 goals in 20 games in the league this season. The two Shamrock Rovers teams combined have scored 40 goals in 40 games

Croly is working hard to get the number of goals scored to an even lower figure. He just needs forever.

In my experience it's usually the away team - regardless of the result - that's held back, but it's good to get your perspective.

I'm in my third year of going to Tallaght - including Dublin derbies - and the most trouble I've seen were the Linfield fans last year, and low-level stuff like flares and bogroll on the pitch when Pats or Bohs pitch up.

I don't know what Tallaght would be like without the Garda operation but, the way it is now, it's hard for a fan to find trouble there without actively looking for it.

Great news for lovers of beautiful football. Setanta Sports are showing Cork V Dundalk live this Friday evening and they are also showing Drogheda V Dundalk live the following Friday evening (8th August). Both games kick off at 8pm.

Every time I hear of trouble at LOI games, it always involves Shamrock Rovers fans.

A bit of google-fu will easily show that there is a troublesome element at every Irish club, figuratively speaking.
