Literally the first trip outside of the housing estate in the new car and it didn't miss a beat in 500km. I was a bit nervous going that far in a completely untested car. Suspension is lovely - comfortable and handles very nice. 0 - 120 is like boiling a pot of water though :o.

ok, really need to power wash out the engine bay in the focus.

everywhere i park it looks like i have an oil leak but its the oil heating off the engine (hopefully)

Wonder what the best way to do it is.

got the car aligned, but the stupid arch lining is still rubbing, It my fault as I removed some of it when putting the new bumper on. Pissed off every time I need to turn a corner, the plastic is breaking. I will take the wheel off tomorrow if I get a chance and use 3M double sided tape or something.

Oh ya and the fella that done his theory test today...... failed, 30 out of 40. He's determined to re-book it again asap and give it another lash. Didn't get much of an opportunity to go through the book with him with everything going on, but whatever about trying to teach young ones, it's nigh on impossible to explain things to old people! It doesn't seem to register with them :o

Any chance it's just the aircon doing its job?
    Not an oil leak.

My lecturers told me something rather wise once, I was doing a really technical schematic of a HVAC system for a hotel we were working on, and they went "you know if your gran can't understand this it's worth nothing really, if you can get her to understand this drawing, you're doing it right"

    In otherwords, keep it simple

I'd just spend time with degreaser man if I was you, plenty of stories going around of serious harm done to engines!

I'm not sure if the inner workings of all dash's are the same but if its similar to that im sure it would work. Strange though I haven't seen that before.

the only problem is theres like small puddles and lakes of oil sitting on parts of the engine that are hard to get at.

like around the injectors on top of the block and its quite hard to get there, hence why i was going to blast it out with the pressure.

from what i gathered on google. spray the engine with the de-greaser as much as possible when engine is slightly warm and then wash it off with low pressure .

the air con does piss a bit of water but this is most definitly oil making its way off the bottom because theres so much on the engine. wasnt leaking at all before i left the cap off

Yap, I ask him the questions, the way they are phrased can be confusing, so I dumbed them down for him, getting them all right no bother at that stage, then when he's on his own today, with the "normal phrased" questions, he got caught. Have to rethink my strategy......

How about showing him the phrases, and explaining it to him? or is that what you done?

30/40 is fairly good for an 84 year old though

I started like that, but there's so many, it'd take hours and hours to go through the book once! Ya was a fair decent attempt, might take a few more attempts, but he should get there :)

You know what I mean! If you want your car to sell it'll either have to be a desirable engine, which yours isn't, a good spec, which yours isn't or cheap in relation to other.......which yours isn't.

I just sold it for 1175. How is that not cheap? Im amazed that in the €1500 range of cars that there was not much interest. But I think the Irish obsession with diesel had a major factor.

But hey, I sold it to a normal punter, not a trade guy, so I'm happy in that respect.
