I hope you saw the faces of the young children on the News. The terror, disbelief, fear and agony has to effect even the most stupid fools who stand by the murderous war machine of Israel.
I personally hope it haunts them.

Back to the emotional argument. Enjoy the 'thanks'. You're talking nonsense if you believe that "only one side" is "not ashamed to kill children", or if you feel Hamas are some kind of moral upstanding organisation.

You're holding one side to a completely different moral standard. Do you support Hamas' indiscriminate firing of rockets on Israeli civilians? Yes or no? I'm gonna hold you to an answer on this.

How is Israels deliberate surgical targeting of civilians better than hamas's indiscriminate firing of rockets?

Hamas wishes it could kill Israeli children. Unfortunately for them their rockets are useless and their tunnels are being destroyed.

Wishing and doing are worlds apart,

    Murdering children is real

    So what's worse?

Indiscriminately firing **** rockets into Israel in the vain hope of hitting a target 1 in a 100 times?

    Or

Using a multi billion dollar military machine to systematically bomb and kill innocent men, women and children?

Because it's not "deliberate surgical targeting of civilians". It's targeting of weapon caches or militants. Hamas hides weapons in UNRWA schools (http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jul/17/unrwa-investigating-20-rockets-empty-gaza-school-palestinian) and anywhere else it can ensure its most vulnerable civilians are murdered.

    ahahahaha. Yeah.

Theres a few here that could save themselves a good deal of grief - instead of the kind of thing above just type <The IDF Line> and we'll know exactly what ye mean.

So why are the UN saying there were no militants or weapons in the school.that was targeted today? Why did Israel bomb that school when they knew where it was and what it was being used for?

The UN are in on it too, sure who doctored the video footage of the shootings?

Very interesting thread. I knew nothing about the conflict other than snippets on the news and that it had been going for ever. There does seem to be a lot of "picking sides" going on though both in here and globally. It all seems so pointless and a desperate situation all round. You just wanna bash their heads together and scream LOOK WHAT YOU'RE DOING TO EACH OTHER. I wouldn't like to have that much hate in me that I was blinded to the futility of it all. I think that's why I avoid the news - it's just all bad news, so much awful **** that we perpetuate onto each other EVERY DAY. I know how John Coffey must have felt.

Both are terrible, but I can see the military sense of attacking an enemy's attack capability, and cannot excuse indiscriminate targeting of civilians.

In general though, I want a ceasefire. Hamas has no tactical advantage but knows that it can continue to fire rockets, knowing that Israeli retaliation might lead to enough condemnation for Israel to stop and for Hamas to call this a huge victory for themselves. Look at the celebrations when they heard they had captured an IDF soldier, for example. They won't back down without some sense of "victory", and neither will Israel at this point.

On the other hand, the moment Israel went into its ground op it was committed to destroying those tunnels and rockets. They too need a PR victory for themselves at this point due to the tragic beach shelling and today's UNRWA bombing.

There is logic to Israel's actions: systemically wipe out Hamas' firepower to ensure its people no longer live in fear.

There is logic to Hamas actions: with no firepower to trouble Israel, it must play an extremely costly PR game. If there is enough death and condemnation for Israel, they might be able to get favourable ceasefire terms and maybe even a lifting of the blockade.

In today's latest IDF/IMF murders, the Israelis warned te civilians to leave their houses and shelter in the UN school. They did.

What did the Israeli Murder Force do next? Bombed the school. Took out a few UN teachers while they were at it.

I forgot though, UN teachers are terrorist though aren't they?

So those were 4 little weapons playing football on the beach and there were 8 weapons getting fresh air on the roof of their home when they were killed in a drone attack.

You seriously need to cop on.

That was inexcusable and horrendous. I do no support that and I've no idea why they were targeted. But don't tar all of the IDF operations with the same brush.

O yeah. So many happy times accidentally killing civillians they had. They had an assassination list as well. Took out some lecturer and his family, the connection being he'd spoken in support of Hezbollah. Great stuff.

How can one not? If it was a one of you might say ok it was a mistake but this is EVERY DAY sometimes multiple times! Either the IDF are deliberately targeting innocent children or their gunners/targeters/intel guys are so inept that they consistently hit innocent children. Which one do you think it is?

I may have mentioned it before, in a thread about the conflict in Gaza, (it is, let's face it, a recurring theme), but I remember watching a documentary film by Yoav Shamir, a Jewish filmmaker, in which he examines antisemitism and, ultimately, fails to find it. The film is enlightening as it explains the backdrop of fear, suspicion and 'everybody hates us Jews' mentality that is carefully grown in Israel, or should I say by it's government and authorities.
In the documentary, Shamir travels to the US to talk to the ADL or Anti Defamation League, a powerful Jewish lobby group, one of many that put real pressure on US government and influence US policy on the Middle East. Interesting stuff.
In another part of the film he follows a group of Israeli school children who are visiting Europe on their school trip, they visit Poland and the concentration camp, and throughout the trip they are continuously being told to keep their heads down as , 'the Polish people hate us'.
They are told to stay in their rooms and not talk to people when they are at the hotel, and the same happens while travelling, they are constantly being fed the notion that no-one wants them, and to stick together for safety.
I wonder if this goes on still, and together with every Israeli boy and girl of eighteen having to join the army, are they simply fostering this idea of antisemitism to prolong the status quo.
Governments like to keep people in fear, it gets them re-elected and able to pass tough laws. Whatever your take is on this conflict, the documentary is an education.

We should defend our way of life to an extent that any attempt on it is crushed, so that any adversary will never make such an attempt in the future.
