as per above, im thinking of buying a bike which the owner says there is a faulty bracket. he said its fine to cycle right now but would probably need changing eventually. could someone tell me how much to get it changed in a shop? i dont want to buy it fo find out its a 40 euro repair as im looking for a very cheap bike

Bike shop would be the one to ask really. If you have the tools, you can get a cheap BB online for about a tenner. If you're looking to get a shop to do it then it'll cost about 50 quid (25 parts and 25 labour). I was actually ringing shops about this done myself so price should be fairly accurate

You will need a special Bottom Bracket tool, to remove and reinstall.
