I just hope Bebe doesn't turn into another Forlan! I hope united have some buyback and future transfer clauses written into the contract.

I don't think you will have to worry about that, he absolute dog****. Just turn on highlights of the Wolves game and tell me he will do well. Good riddance, what a waste of money.

There's such an overwhelming stench of Sneijder off the Vidal saga. I'm putting on my skeptical hat and having no faith in any of it for my own sanity.

Bebe to Benfica is almost done and the rumored fee is around 2 Million Euro, which is around 1.5 Million pounds.

I think we can get more than 5 Million for Young. Downing was sold for more than 5 Million and some random player in Championship was sold for 11 Million. I'm sure there are midtable teams who can pay upto 10 Million, problem is wages.

He is not exactly "some random player", he was the top scorer in the league

That was four years ago, he did well last season, who knows how he could develop.

Why do people pay any attention to this bullshit?

They have "entered advanced negotiations" have they? Do they release white smoke from a chimney when that happens?

£1.5 m for Bebe would be really really poor considering what we paid for him and the fact that he just scored 14 goals in the top flight in Portugal last season, would expect much more.

i guess he is in the last year of his contract, but its still a poor deal for us, great deal for benfica who are brilliant at bringing players in cheaply, developing them and selling them off at huge profits.

    Didn't know that..

But still my point stands. We have seen players sold for good money who are vastly inferior to Young.

considering theres 6 lads already gone, our squad is still reduced even taking everything he said into account.

in saying that, we are not signing 6 players in the next 6 weeks, nowhere near that.

Young is probably worth between 7-12 million. He's on very high wages though, so we'd likely have to sell him for a few million less just to offset the buying clubs agreeing to take on his wages.

Should have used him in player + cash deal for good players in Portuguese league.

    Don't think Vidal is a good fit? Don't think he's worth £40+?

    Here ya go.

    http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2014/07/22/4974447/the-dossier-why-warrior-vidal-is-the-perfect-man-for

I would seriously just break the fcuking bank for him. Steel in midfield, tackles, goals, aggression, arrogance. Everything we have been missing for so long.

In today's market, I'd be putting £45m on the table for Vidal. Make them an offer they cannot refuse and have him in red for the Swansea game.

I agree. I said it in the first post that young wages are the issue to offload him. We can get a decent for him as midtable clubs can buy him and new TV deal means price is not a big issue.

Even championship clubs are dealing in 10s of millions, then we have clubs like West Ham who spends big and also pay big wages.

Young was fantastic for Villa before joining United. He had a very good first 12-18 months before niggling injuries and i think laziness has wrecked the last two seasons.

Football existed before United and Cleverley doesn't even belong in the same sentence as Young in terms of performances over their careers.

Young was a proven premier league player and had a good first season at United id say the last 2 season have been an exception rather than the norm.

Is this a commonly held view? Young was an above average Premier League winger that United paid stupid money for and had 2 or 3 good games at the start of his United career when everyone, even Anderson looked like a superstar. He then evened out and played to his level for the last 2 seasons. He was never good enough for a team in the top 4 let alone aspiring champions and 16m and the wages he's on was a baffling transfer with some of the value around at that time. Definitely the worst out of the Villa trio of Barry, Milner and him at that time.

Also Santon would be a great little signing.

Also scored key goals against Spurs and Blackburn in his first season. He had a great first season

He was the best of the villa 3 and their match winner.I love the way people rewrite history on here at times. When a player moves for £17M they will command wages around Young's.

At the time I was happy with the transfer, I'm not sure what the common consensus here was?

seeing how real Madrid have just signed Toni Kroos and James Roriguez it paves the way for Vidal to join united unless someone like PSG come in from nowhere and blow us out of the water

Madrid are looking to sell on a few, so aren't out of it yet (if they want him) If they sell Di Maria and Kheidra, along with having sold Morata, they'll have recouped most of their spent cash.

Was Young's signing really that baffling? British and can play in a variety of positions across the front, seems like a stereotypical Fergie signing to me.
