Speaking of The Fridge, Feyenoord have made it pretty clear he can go for around £8-£12million, would be a great signing at that price.

Still only 22 and had the most tackles/interceptions in the world cup. And not to mention he can cover right back if needed.

Yeah if we were dropping 8 million on a player that versatile, that'd be good business.

Fabio and Buttner weren't up to the required level and Evra is past it. I don't mind letting average players go.

Butter was adequate back up, as opposed to having nobody right now. id rather play Fabio at Right back than Valencia, which is whats going to happen this season unless we sign somebody.

when was the last time we had a back up right back?

Do you actually think that they don't have cover for LB already sorted? Evra is gone for about an hour.

you are mr knowitall around here, why dont you tell me whats happening then?

i couldnt give a s*it if two players are coming tomorrow, my point stands that letting such experienced and important players go such as Rio, Evra and Vidic so close together is not the ideal way to do thing and its something of a risk.

Vidic aside Rio and Evras 'Experience and importance' hasn't served us well in a year or two for one and years for the other, time to say goodbye long overdue in Rios case.

O'Shea, Phil Neville, Wes Brown were all capable of playing there adequately tbh.

i think you missed the part where out entire team was s*ite for the last 12 months, so using that a reason to get rid of them is completely irrelevent.

So can we say Young, Cleverly and Jones were also just a part of a larger problem of the whole team being bad?

Well in fairness, this season I expect our squad to be smaller then normal come kick off of the new campaign. Van Gaal probably will get himself two utility players that can cover a few positions, and I wouldn't be suprised if one of them is an auxillary LB.

I don't think we will come start of the season without cover, but then we dont need a big singing to fill in either. Shaw will be first choice and getting all the game time, so whoever comes in will need to be content with the bench. I wouldnt be suprised to see maybe a youth prospect getting the callup?

I doubt someone like Blind will come to play second fiddle to Shaw, after a good WC campaign and playing regular first team football.

I think any bigname signing that comes will be a CM or CB.
so the Italian champions think Evra is good enough for them (along with the france international team), yet he is not good enough to even remain as a back up left back next year in your eyes?

do you actually realise we now have 2 full backs left, id understand if the replacements are already there but 3 weeks before the start of the new season, we now have a need to sign 3 defenders.

at least the good thing is that Evra no longer will be made a scapegoat on ere when things go belly up in games.

that would see our total spend for the summer hitting about £150million......you honestly think that is going to happen?
Juventus play a 3-5-2 formation (or at least did, and assume will continue to) so Evra's defensive liabilities wouldn't be found out as much. He was terrible defensively for the last 2/3 seasons

I didn't miss one bit of it unfortunately, the team was crap for different reasons, players played out of position, players not suited to the formation, players just being plain crap and players over the hill. Rios career should have been ended by Sir Alex.

You can't say a player who is over the hill and should have been put out to pasture a few years ago should be given a second chance because everyone played crap last season.

Plus the Italian league is a slower more lethargic game, players like Evra and Cole will play well there and no doubt will have people doubting the decision to sell them on.

i couldnt give a s*it if two players are coming tomorrow, my point stands that letting such experienced and important players go such as Rio, Evra and Vidic so close together is not the ideal way to do thing and its something of a risk.

Vida is the only one from those 3 who I definitely feel could have contributed on a regular basis next season. It's a shame that he didn't wait until the end of the season to see how things worked out with the management before he pulled the trigger with Milan. I think that had he have known that Moyes' time was coming to an end, he wouldn't have left the club.

Rio had some decent to strong performances last season but not enough IMO to warrant keeping him on for another season. As well as that, his behaviour off the field (i.e. on Twitter) left a lot to be desired and while the shít was hitting the fan within the club, he seemed content to sit on the sidelines and make cheap, underhanded comments. You talk of experience, and a big part of keeping a player on for his experience is the example he can show to the youngsters in the squad, his Twittering (Tweeting?) was not the kind of example I'd like shown to our younger players.

As for Evra, this is not as straight forward for me. His performances and defensive game had no doubt declined over recent years. However, for me he can't be fully blamed, the club should have brought in his potential replacement years ago and maybe then, at his age, he wouldn't have had to play 40+ games a season. There's no way Evra should have been playing week-in week-out the last 2 seasons. It was only in the 2nd leg vs Bayern that Buttner showed he wasn't the flop most of us thought he was, IMO anyway.

Evra could have had something to contribute next season as back-up to Shaw, but why should Evra settle for that when he could get a lot more games with a top club in another country? I've no doubt the club would have kept him on, but you can't blame a player who has very little time left in their career for moving on and not hanging around to be back-up to an 18 year old.

Considering all of the above, I feel there is no other way things could have gone down than the way they currently are (i.e. The purge of experience we are currently seeing). Experience is one thing, but decline in ability is another and I don't feel that the former makes up for the latter. We were leaking goals from the left side last season, now is the time for Evra to move on and I thank him and wish him all the best with Juventus.

It's not ideal that we are now seeking a back-up LB as well as a 1st team CB and CM, but I trust LVG and Woodward to also identify this need and deal with it as they see fit.

We should just sign john o shea back. He is experienced at man utd and can play everywhere.

Sure that's 11 signings right there.

Will you be happy then homer?

What can we do to make you happy?

Mr. Knowitall. Lol. Have I ever once said I'm speaking with some sort of insider information? Have I ever implied that I know more than anyone else? That right. No I haven't.

You made a point pertaining to the LB position, one I think was incredibly negative and shortsighted and I replied to it. It was nothing to do with any other defensive position. So I do not know why you are now referencing Vidic and Ferdinand.

Nani, Young,Zaha & Valencia say hi

I thought Liverpool fans would be too busy celebrating signing Reus, Pogba, Vidal, Varane, Griezmann and Isco with Messi on his way also as part of the Suarez deal
Fear:confused:. Liverpool bought Southampton's 2 best players last seasom who were Man Utd's rivals. Lallana scored more than Nani,Valencia,Young, Kagawa & Zaha combined.
