I'm sure we'll manage something better than David Speedie and Jimmy Carter anyway.

    Remember them?

24 years of that kind of dross must give you nightmares.:)

On an 18 year old widely regarded to be the next great LB. Comparing Shaw's fee to Lalalalalalana or Lambert/Lovern is daft. Shaw is a high price, but understandable. Lovern and Adz were a joke.

    Longevity + Resale Value = 30m.

Luke Shaw can easily be a flop just as Lambert Lovern and Lallana can be. Like someone said, lets see how we get on this season and assess/gloat at the end of it if we finish higher.

Finding it hard to believe that Dortmund would be willing to sell Hummells. And if he is for sale, surely Barca would be interested? They need a CB.

You're right of course, but they've lost a guy who either scored or assisted around 45% of their goals last season and it's hard to see how they're going to replace that. I find it hard to see them as a threat this year, but I've been wrong before...

Too many if, buts and maybes to argue the future, but if at the end of the season Liverpool (god forbid) win the league while we have a great lil lb whose fans do you think will be the happier.

Arguing over whose team has made the better signings can be left till next May.

As I said this morning, reckon the media speculation is going to kick on tonight/tomorrow - and this is why:

    https://twitter.com/Malachians/status/491219856918732800
Woodward is leaving the US tour this morning

Hopefully he is quicker back than he was from Australia.

Not really. Shaw is 19 and has time in comparison to the Liverpool signings that are over 25.

The idea that a team such as United with a manager of the caliber and record as Van Gaal couldn't attract big names because of the lack of CL football is silly. Players understand the goal VG has and would believe that they will be back in the top 4 next season.

This isn't just the case for United, it's the case for most teams like Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and ManCity.

Remember in 2009 Man City finished outside the top 4, they didnt have Champions League football but players knew that the team was capable of challenging for the league and they managed to bring in great players. Same can be said for Liverpool in recent years.

Obviously Champions League can be an incentive but the lack of it won't make a player overlook the potential of the team and the direction they are going in.

1 season with no CL is just about explainable but 2 seasons and then the problems occur attracting top level players.

I don't think United will have a problem attracting big names given the appeal of the Club. Where I would foresee problems if they are competing with the Likes of Barca and Real Madrid than there is going to be only one winner.

Even though Liverpool are in the Champions League this year I would be very surprised if a player would choose Liverpool over Man United.

With the Khedeira deal to Arsenal looking dodgy would people be happy with him. The fee of 20 is reasonable but i am unsure if he is what we need.

I think we need creativity from deep it wouldn't surprise me to see Kagawa tried in a 3 man midfield.
