Edit: that link is in german. It's pretty well respected. Also questions the source of the 20m quote saying they could only track it as far as Spanish reporters.

I've dismissed it as fantasy so far belonging in a shadowcomplex lineup only but it looks like there is an actual chance we could sign him, that would be absolutely fantastic, you could make a good argument for him being the best CB in the world at the moment

€35 million is what we paid for Fellaini, I wouldn't see a problem in adding another 15 million on top of that for Hummels

The article says 35 Million Euro which is 28 Million pounds. Not sure if he is available for that price.

That Ed interview was very impressive, definitly gives the impression that Van Gaal obviously wants a certain few players, irregardless of how he feels the squad may or may not perform.

I also get the impression its a bit of "usual tripe", that line about giving the players a few weeks. I think he is well aware there is some rubbish in there, and this is prime opportunity to trim it down with the lack of champions league football.

Interesting two weeks ahead I'd say.

we are always linked with them, just rarely deliver them!

i think Chelsea, City, Barcelonas and Reals big spending is now done for the year, so that means surely that any remaining targets can be got it we really really go for them unless Bayern want them.

I mean i can see the appeal for Hummels. Dortmund are not going to win the league anytime soon and he could be persuaded by United's project. If LVG talks to him about the big name signings such as Vidal coming he might be interested. If United got Hummels and Vidal and Strootman in January than then squad could compete with any other side.

Look how far he got with the dutch team, I mean that squad was considered mostly rubbish before the WC with a back line that only had Vlaar playing on a proper level

Midfield was also dodgy with De Jong who can defend but is not a play maker and 2 other guys Fer and De Guzman who got relegated, then you got Sneijder who worked most of the year on getting fit RvP who needed to come back from Injury ..... Leaving Robben the only one who was at WC level at the start of June

LvG is looking to get/mold a squad that have their noses all pointing in the same direction believe me he will spare no one who is not in line with his philosophy no matter how big the name is and that's why I believe he will buy players who fit in to that profile ... and that will not necessarily mean "Big names" signings ....
