Zulu, that was a bit of a silly comment :o Lets try and keep the gender debate minefield out of regular life.
it seems a rather pointless activity, if some one is bothering you or you've revealed to much of your identity, anybody that is actually a stalker is going to cop who you are very quickly if you keep posting about exactly the same stuff. Also if you want to.keep changing your username would you not subscribe if you want new usernames and clearly like the site.

I'd be tempted. Can you imagine if you were looking for a job, a first time one, and they searched your name and some sort of gender thread came up? If your A fem, or a MRA, then I doubt you'd get hired.

I guess it depends how much you care what people think.

I scratch my head why they bothered to be honest. I suppose it's part of the victim mentality they buy into.

As far as having a "victim mentality" is concerned, the very worst people I've seen are "men's rights" types. Utterly cringe-worthy.

You could very well be right, although I haven't noticed too many of those closing and re-regging. That's not to say it doesn't happen; I probably don't notice them...

Your actual name is GalwayGuy2? Wow.

Well GalwayGuy2, you've certainly left me stumped with that post.

Does anybody use their real name as a username on boards?its not like Facebook or the social media sites.
That said I wouldn't hire me going off my posting :-(

You can feel the hot and putrid breath of a moderator on your neck. Knowing that somewhere a man with a long beard is using his 'mod tools' to analyse your posting history and thinkg about hitting the ban button. Possibly before pleasuring himself.

Time to get the hell out of Dodge.

Is there any other widely used online service in Ireland that doesnt allow you to delete your own posted content from the internet? There are huge privacy implications for posting here.

My thought exactly. There have been people pushing a hardline feminist agenda on Boards?

All I've seen is women getting defensive over the pretty bad stuff that can be said about women here, which is hardly unreasonable?
The same stuff doesn't get said about men, but if it did, obviously guys would get defensive - and you could hardly blame them.

People can close their accounts for all sorts of personal reasons that haven't been mentioned here.

I closed an account I had before I came out as transgender, and wanted a clean break from that account because I had sort of built up a persona with that account that just wasn't me at all. So, there's a reason why someone would ;)

That's pretty bad all right. Glad Boards put a stop to it.

They got an awful victim mentality out of it to be sure. :pac:

I don't get the idea of doing it because you 'have something coming up' and don't want to be distracted. You can still read boards without an account. It takes about two minutes to sign up again and start posting. It's never made sense to me. If I wanted to stop posting on boards I'd just leave my account as is and come back to it later if the mood struck me, but each to their own.

Also don't understand the idea that people 'get sick of spending their lives on boards'. Is this really a thing? Do people trawl this forum at the expense of other things in their lives? If your friends are going out for dinner or something do you turn them down because you're too busy with boards? Sounds mad to me.

Oh I don't think boards "put a stop to it", but something happened, and I wasn't privy to it.

Perhaps it as a MRA/PUA covert hit? Who knows!

I think if there were people pushing a radical feminist agenda and putting down men (I mean that IS what you meant by "hardcore feminazis" isn't it?) Boards should have put a stop to it. Bad form Boards.

Who knows what you meant Zulu - perhaps it was just a snide and wide of the mark post that you can't actually stand over?

Yeh women getting defensive over the stuff that gets said about them here is not the same as being a hardcore feminazi - it's bizarre to suggest this.
Men getting defensive over similar being said about them here (if it happened) wouldn't make them hardline MRAs like.

    Whoa there girls.

I don't really see why you are both getting your knickers in a twist. I referred to some posters from a few years ago. It's not like it applies to either of you; you'd swear I'd insulted you personally with all the back-slappery.

Whats with the hard-on for my observation?

    I mean honestly...

What would said harrassers/stalkers do with a person's real identity?

Any warning stories to be told?

I mean, I'd say if you looked through my posts, you'd find a lot of information about me....but what does anybody want to do about it?

I know of people who've lost their jobs over getting into fights online and having their enemies contact their employers with an "I thought you'd like to know how so-and-so is wasting your time and money." email. Doesn't help if someone has been bad-mouthing their colleagues/employers online either.

The worst case I heard of was someone getting into a fight about nothing at all on a US forum. Their opponent got into his car, drove across a couple of states and fired shots at their house.

I've also seen cases of people with serious mental health issues getting 'fixated' on someone else and making their lives a misery both online and in real life.

I've been around Boards years and years and have no problem saying it. "Hardline feminazis" (man-haters) is quite the claim - pretty inflammatory. Only asking what you mean by this.

I hold my hands up, I'm obviously more naive than I thought.

I've never been stalked or harassed by any psychotic poster, I few what-the-fcuk PMs in my time but nothing that warranted getting the hell out of dodge.

I've never felt any real privacy concern, and I've revealed a lot of personal stuff over a lot of years of posting in a few specific forums. There are pictures of me, job descriptions, locations, situations, people, places, personal struggles all chronicled over the six odd years of posting at sometimes regular, sometimes irregular intervals.

If you googled my name, my boards account certainly would NOT come up, so there's no professional concern for me.

I guess that's why I don't get the closing-yer-account shebang. My account has a bit of meaning to me. There are posts there that best express moments of my life that I never want to forget. There are posts there that went some way to helping me to make some revelation about myself, or maybe figure something out that had been bothering me, or brought a dose of perspective into my life that I wouldn't otherwise have. Boards teaches you sh1t sometimes.

I'm obviously bat sh1t crazy, but closing my account would need to have a very very good and deeply considered reason for me, outside of 'meh, sick of Beks101, let's try something new'. Plus I feel, rightly or wrongly, an affinity with certain posters in the forums I frequent and I'd feel a bit deceptive just fecking off and coming back as some sort of re-invention of myself without warning.

Posting online has never interfered with my life. I've still travelled continents and career climbed and had wild animal sex and had my heart broken and ran marathons and had shouting matches with my flatmates and lived in different countries and made questionable life decisions and all that craic.

TLDR; I LOVE YOU BOARDSIES DON'T LEAVE ME
