lets see, rockets that have little to no effect sadly kill one person, jets and shells that have killed a couple of hundred, which one has the most blood on their hands? who has killed the most people? yes, you guessed it, the people with the jets and shells, but of course they have made no effort to avoid civilian deaths, because they know the people they are shelling and bombing can't go anywhere to escape

    So much for reconciliation...

Amazing how the left is called looney left and labeled conspiracy theorist and tin foiled hat brigade while hysterical, unfounded view like this are commen place in the right. We'll have to come up with a witty label for right wing lunatics.

Make no mistake about it, so-called 'Islamic' terrorists are the world's worst, they are the dregs. Evil babstarqs. But they thrive in war situations and the likes of Israel under Netanyahu and America under Bush played exactly into their hands.

I can see this horrid pattern emerging in Palestine:

First off, the heroes were the PLO (later called Fatah). Israel then attacked and Fatah/PLO were then seen as 'too soft'.
So, Hamas came into being. Now, many seem them as being 'too soft' and the fanatics in them hate their moderate members. So, they stage these rocket launches.
But even so, Hamas are still too moderate for some who turn to the worst of the dregs, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (aka al Qaeda in Palestine).

We see the same in Iraq. al Qaeda in Iraq were first off heroes but some considered even these savages too mild hence the invention of ISIS which is anyway the same AQ in Iraq rebranded.

Would Islamic Jihad, AQ in Iraq, and other al Qaeda exist only for the likes of Bush, Blair, Netanyahu and indeed the whole cold war itself. They would of course ... as some weirdo with a chip on his should, as the local vicious drug dealer and as the one off crazed murderer. NONE with any support. But not only do they exist but the West, Israel, Russia, etc. and ALL their dealings have ensured their popularity.

Bingo, the amateur historians of the thread failed to notice this when they talk about HAMAS' foundation.

David Cameron reiterates the British Governments staunch support for Israel amidst "appalling attacks being carried out by Hamas against Israeli civilians" and underlines their right to defend themselves. Netanyahu warns that Hamas will "pay a heavy price" for rocket attacks.

Surely the British Government has had enough experience with the Troubles in Northern Ireland to realise that advocating or siding with anything but peace is ultimately a bad decision - and especially since the recent news of an imminent ground invasion in Gaza.

I really am failing to understand that twat !! Hamas attacking israeli citizens is no different to how Israeli has have/has/had been attacking Palestine. Both ways of defence or rebelling is wrong, but what man is not going to rebel and protect what is theirs and the homeland of their people? The unlawful use of power is what Israel have abused to take a land that is not theirs

The Israelis are just greedy fcuks. they got their home land after the second world war and have continued since then, to just be utter scum of the earth. Right now , everything i have read and things i have watched to gain as much info, to educate myself on this situation , that their actions are as equal to those of Hitlers with the Jewish. On paper they shadow each other to me.

Israel seems to naively think it can steal land from a people and then get to live in peace while the displaced and brutalised people are hemmed into a strip of land nearby. I didn't think they were that stupid.

I support a Israeli state but not how they're going about it now.

I'm not sure i do anymore. I think if peace could be achieved the Palestinians would treat the Jews better than the other way around. I think a peaceful Palestinian state with Jews living in it would be better than a Jewish state with Palestinians living in it.

Anyway God promised them f**k all, they'd be better off in america and give up on this 3000 year old fantasy.

They kind of have to stay on Israels side to keep face/consistency.

Britain effectively brought about the modern day situation through the Balfour declaration and various colonial shenanigans back in the days of ww1.

Also theres a pretty influential Israeli lobby in GB.
If that wasn't enough theres also Americas influence of Britain.
America itself in turn having an even stronger Jewish/Israeli lobby.

Turns out planting people in various corners of the globe doesn't always bring positive results.

First off, the heroes were the PLO (later called Fatah).

You're wrong there. The PLO is an umbrella group of Fatah, the PFLP and a myriad of left-wing political parties.
    So, Hamas came into being.

Hamas were originally funded and supported by Israel in order to undermine the PLO.
But even so, Hamas are still too moderate for some who turn to the worst of the dregs, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (aka al Qaeda in Palestine).

You've said that on multiple threads and it's still wrong. Islamic Jihad are nothing to do with al Qaeda, they have zero connection with them. They are entirely different organisations.

People before profit and attention whore Hugh Lewis have removed the Israeli flag from a children's European sailing event in Dun Laoighaire after apparently receiving "dozens" of calls that the flag was flying.

That's such a load of BS! They'd be better off if they picked up litter on the streets in Dun Laoghaire.

The people who complained probably have never visited the region and have no idea what it's like to live there day in day out.

    Wannabe do gooders.....

flying the flag of war criminals who murder children and destroy hospitals is disgusting

No, so therefore I try and avoid ringing and complaining about a flag.

It's a flag. At a sailing event. Doing nothing to nobody.

I suspect Israel had decided (or maybe even ensured?) that there will be no peace anytime soon and will seek to maximise their war time gains until (if ever) the prospect of a settlement emerges. And then of course, negotiations will begin based on the current state of play at that time, not where things were perhaps several decades earlier.

There are many uncomplimentary labels you might attach to such an approach. Neither stupid nor naïve would be among them.

It's all part of the big squeeze and when they re-negotiate the poor Palestinians will do well to have what they have now or a good bit less.

I'm making an educated guess, that they haven't been there, like myself. I think we should have our views and not be getting involved in diplomatic incidents like this.

Taking down a flag at a children's sailing event is not the most constructive way to go about bringing peace to the region.

I think it's selective and too easy to do given how easily it fits into the accepted narrative that we have about the situation there.

Or join the 6.5 Palestinian refugees scattered around the globe, that's if they can get out

Ah but these are countries that we do a lot of trade with. We can't be seen to attack them
