I guess there will be a lot of comeback on Malaysian for continuing flying over Ukraine in spite of the warnings given. 9 times out of 10 you can be ok, but.......

The flight was a codeshare with KLM.

The plane was an 'aercap 1997 vintage' according to a lessor I know. I don't know what that is myself.

Anyone else getting FR24 timing out?

yep I tried http://www.radarvirtuel.com/ but it has no coverage east of the Black Sea, or indeed in any far eastern Europe country.

Can we have an updates thread separate from the main thread on this flight?

I know yeah, thats why I said I wonder what way they'll pull a conspiracy from it, they'll be creaming their pants

I reckon it's going to start off with something like:

"9M-MRD first flew on 17/07/1997 and crashed exactly 17 years later as MH17 on 17/07/2014."

They'll have some fun with that one. It could easily be in the Daily Mail too.

It is funny how the earth's coincidence system goes into overdrive during such events ;) Makes me believe in God for a moment

Can we keep the MH17 stuff to the appropriate thread please. Thanks.

Yep spotted that, wind at SNN at 22:30Z is 040 at 5kts so favouring 06, but hardly out of limits if landing on 24 - Anything on the feeds?

strange feed at number 2 liveatc top 50, something must be happening, when you click into feed it says not covered?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,507 ✭✭✭Jack1985

Just had a listen on the feed, RYR2302 went around due to a sustained tailwind of 15kts on approach to 24 which is just on the limit for the B738 so wise choice, Shannon then swapped the runways.

We will not point out any airlines, but an airline concerned about its safety reputation should not lie to customers. #FlyingOverUkraine

There saying that the airlines in the vicinity of the time is in question of safety concern, Air India is one and Singapore Airlines seems to be another as they pass over the area regularly. Thats the word on twitter.

Exactly. So where is the bravery in doing so. Stupidity and underneath it all selfishness would more easily spring to mind.
