Guess that is bye bye Zaha.

    Rooney too :pac::pac::pac:

interesting quote about Rooney, all right. Will try not to read too much into that though.

On the Carrick injury, I think we simply have to go out and get another CM now. They're saying 10 weeks, but the guy is 33 (?), and at that age it can take longer to get back to fitness.

He did seem to completely dodge the question on Rooney.

Seriously, he was all "You asked about Rooney, but Carrick will be a big loss..."

He was asked if RVP was a candidate for the capataincy and he didn't even mention him in his response.

What does that mean do you think?

    Eh?

    Hmmm?

    Swap Rooney for Cavani anyone?

At least they will pay him what ever he wants and it would be rid of an influence that isn't needed.

Hardly unbelievable... the whole plane thing was farcical

A few idiots pool together to fly a banner over the ground (which was actually booed, and you could hear "You can stick your f*cking banner up your arse" as it flew over), and you focus on that. Typical.

If you some the posters here won a million and lost a tenner, they'd prefer to bitch about the tenner.

    0-3 to Liverpool:

    Stoke:

    Sunderland:

    Fulham:

And you'll notice that in every video bar the first one, it's all support for a struggling manager. The fans last year were unbelievable.

Rooney is a better player than Cavani. He was also one of the few that looked like he gave a damn last season.

Too many people read the British tabloids.

Will Cavani be a better 10 than Mata? Will Cavani be happy to sit on the bench? Will he be happy to play on the wing? Is Cavani any more likely than Rooney to be able to be developed into a central midfielder?

Cavani would have the exact same problems at United as Rooney if they were swapped.

I hope we don't sign Cavani. We don't need him and the funds should all be ploughed into signing a new midfielder and new centre back, in that order.

Just got to see the press conference there, my cheeks (facial ones!) are actually a little achy from grinning like a cheshire cat for 22 minutes straight.

I love his conciseness, he addressed every question without giving too much away. He commands respect and attention, with every person in that room hanging on his every word. That's what we need the manager of Manchester United to be like.

David McDonnell got off lightly there compared to Louis' previous reactions to 'stupid questions'. I really can't wait for Jeff Shreeves to get chopped down by our new manager!

On the injury of Carrick, that is a worry. No doubt it could have a silver lining in that it will push us more to sign another CM, but out of all the MFs currently available in the squad, Carrick would be the best back-up option to Herrera and any new additions.

Last season I was in the 'give him time' camp in relation to Fellaini, but having not improved towards the end of the season and subsequently not shining for the national side in the W.C., I now have serious doubts about his ability/future at the club. I'd still like to see him given time with the new manager, see if Louis can bring him back to form, but I'm not too confident.

Even without the Carrick injury, we badly need a strong CM signing. Now, with the Carrick injury and the fact that it has come late in his career, we need 2 immediate CM signings IMO. Also we need back-up at LB for Shaw (if Evra is in fact gone, is he??) and a strong CB signing. Hopefully most if not all of these will come in the next few weeks.

Above all else though, irrespective of more signings, I have full confidence in LVG and am sure that we will fare better next season with him at the helm.

Found the Rooney dodge interesting, those 20 minutes just flew by watching it. I do believe he`ll get another another couple of players in before the window closes

Has a figure been released for Toni Kroos move to Real?...Impression seemed to be he wasn't going to go anywhere....hope we made some kind of effort to sound him out behind the scenes.

Think the fee was £24 million, I'd say the move had been agreed before the world cup had ever began and he just decided to wait until he was finished with the national side to finalise it.

It's been widely accepted Kroos was joining Real since before the World Cup I thought?

I thought the questions weren't great but they were probably told not to ask him probing questions on his first day. He mentioned that Ander and Shaw were on the list and I was hoping someone would ask who else is on it to see his reaction

Didn't pick up on the Rooney dodge first time around but it was probably accidental, strange that he was asked about Rooney and changed it straight to Carrick though

Honestly I don't read that much into it. All he was saying was experience counts for very little at times in his mind. He quite possibly dodged making comment on Rooney because the media would run with it all day long.

Maybe it was just because he wanted to inform people Carrick was injured and found that a good opportunity!

Wonder who hell pick as captain, thought it would be Rooney, but ya never know who will get it. Bookies and paper seem to just be saying RVP due to their relationship in the international scene but surely Rooney and Carrick would be favourites would they not?

he could pick rvp or throw a curveball and pick mata seeing as he is our best player imo

I wonder with Van Gaal saying no new players for a few weeks until he's seen the squad try his 'philosophy' will the rumour mill die down a bit. Probably not.

If he's our best player, then we're in deeper sh1t than I thought.

I dunno I imagine Giggs will have a big say on who should be captain. He will obviously be telling VG who he thinks it should be and I would guess his suggestion would be one of the lads who have been there for a good bit of time. Fletcher, Rooney and Carrick for example.

RVP is a great player and no doubt respected by the team, but if he was selected captain would some of the player who were there for longer get annoyed that they were overlooked? I think Rooney fully expects it.

Would love to see De Gea get the captain role in the future (not now though). Maybe I'm old school in the way I prefer the captain to be a GK, DEF or MID rather than an attacker.

It will make it even worse in my opinion ha. When we don't seem to be making any real attempts at signing people the papers seem to throw out any rumour at all to keep selling papers. Well be linked with some bizarre signings no doubt!

Not at all i reckon, they still have column inches to fill and a lot of them don't care how they do it.

Evans is the only player I can think of that has actually displayed proper leadership qualities, he's very vocal and would get my vote.

Very true, and he came through the youths didnt he? I imagine he will be starting centre back and will be either helping a new signing adapt (hopefully hummels :P) or help along a relatively inexperienced player (hoping Jones gets a run at CB).

Evans would be a good option for captain indeed!
