Really looking forward to this season. Despite what the Sun is saying about VG "axing" 7-8 players within next 3-4 days I can't imagine that happening. Sure were going to sell a few to make way for signings but he won't sell anyone until he knows he's bringing in a replacement.

Really wondering when and who the next signing will be. Surely we need one new centre back at least and another centre mid and if were lucky a winger. So much rumours going around hard to know who we are actually considering to bring in.

Of course he's not gonna publicly say we are in the market and push prices up on top of the Utd tax already there. I'm with Kew in the 'In Louis we trust', positivity camp

I'm sure many of you fancy would agree with that statement.

Very interesting that he said that. Is he alluding to the club wanting to make big name signings, rather than the right signings? Or is he giving out about the summer tour? Or something else?

I wish Carrick a speedy recovery but he's on a sharp downward trajectory and I wouldn't like to see him play much more than a backup role this season.

Carricks injury could be good news, speed along buying another midfielder.

i wouldnt call it good news, as right now he is our first choice midfielder along with Herrera.

it may finally force our hand and speed up this 3 or 4 weeks process he outlined which is a plus, but an injury to an already poor area is not good news.

as it stands, we are starting the season with a midfield either Fellaini, fletcher or Cleverly in midfield in our starting 11.

good news that we just lost our best midfielder?? we are probably going to get another midfielder anyway but to lose carrick is a massive blow if its for a long time

I'll join this, show great interest in getting the team set up, be convinced I'll be in with a shout, then fade away slowly after a few weeks, before finishing in the bottom half.
    Can't wait.

and/or maybe all the commitments he has to give to various tasks/events that take his attention away from the first team.

More players from "the list" could be approved and signed without him contradicting himself.:)

Anyway I`m sure he meant the term "3 or 4 weeks" loosely enough, just saying he wants to have a look at the squad close up. He could decide within a day or two that a certain area needs strengthening and act and maybe decided days or weeks later that another area needs attention.

Nothing is set in stone and thats not even taking into account whether we take him at his literal word.

Probably the rour, sure they are leaving tomorrow and today was his first full day.

Probably would have preferred to stay in manchester and do his business there for the first window, could have asked to not do the tour this year because he wanted to settle in and get familiar with the facilities and that crap.
He was probably told they couldnt because of commercial contracts.

Sounded like he was surprised with all the sponsor commitments that are expected on the US tour.

He's hardly gonna start sniping at the board over transfer policy in his first press conference.

Fantastic presser. You really need to have balls of steel to say ManUtd are not the best on field, but 7th best. It's fact of last season but you usually don't say that in your press conference. Loved it.

Looks like he is not really happy with how commercial ManUtd are. Like he said hard to balance which makes me think it's about rumored friendlies in middle east.

Carrick went over on ankle during training in the last 2 days. Worse than a sprain but full extent unclear. Looking at around 10 weeks ‪#‎mufc‬

Moyes apparently struggled with this from day 1 also and was completely overwhelmed with the extra demands placed on him.

Ya thats what I meant, might even buy an extra one fror luck in case it happens again.

I would prefer if carrick started on the bench and came on later in the game.

it's obviously crap that carrick is injured but it will force him to speed up any midfield targets he has. Hopefully.

10 weeks. Yikes. I'd nearly put my mortgage on it that another CM will be brought in.

When did this become a common term to use for press conference? Can't stand it  Really irritates me for some reason.

Not sure why a simple word can irritate someone on Internet.

Yeah looking like it now alright lad.

Just on the waiting 3 or 4 weeks thing for new signings - Did anyone really think that anything other than this would happen.

There's what, 6 weeks left in the window? Let there be no panic, the new manager will obviously want to make his own judgments on each individual player and assess whether he can get someone in to improve the team/squad.
I'm 100% confident that new players will be brought in, they might be completely from left field, but I'm willing to trust van Gaal's judgment. The Carrick situation may just push a potential new CM on a bit though.

Positivity. Try it lads, it's great.....

How about doing a seperate paid league too?

LVG gave a good press conference.

Not sure if I would be happy if I was Rooney, instead went to Carrick to talk about experience.
