Mower for MF135

What would be the best/suitable type mower for Massey Ferguson 135? Save around 4 acres of hay, do a bit of topping and cut rushes to keep them back. Land is a bit hilly. Have had a Figerbar Mower for years but it is a bit slow and does clog up in heavy stuff. My preference would be a disc mower if I could get a suitable one for tractor. Saw a few new holland disc 435 5'6" disc mowers on done deal, but they look a bit worse for wear.

    any advice, opinions?

    Thanks

I see fellas that had drum mowers on the 135 and have upgraded to bigger tractor to drive them. Would it be a little heavy, what kind of tractor did you have it on?

If you could get your hands on a good PZ CM135. 4'6" mower ideal for the 135.

I had the pz 135 in mind but heard it was awful hard to get parts for them. I saw a new 4'6" Drum Mower on done deal Manufacturer is Tinaz, made in Turkey. Looks like a copy of the PZ 135. A bit weary of it because never heard of Tinaz before or the quality of the machine.

get a pz 165 in good condition. we have one on a 135MF. no bother to the tractor, it has no problem driving it or lifting it. parts are easily got for it.
Stay away from new drum mowers , not built as well, and the steel quality is poorer, they will cause bother , even though it may be new.
Disc mower probably would be nicer but if you went that way its gets more expensive

we run a Kuhn GMD44 disc mower on our 35 occasionally, well able lift it, although i have wondered if the lift arms are a bit light for alot of use as nearly all the weight goes through one arm/side when lifting it folded out, also dont know if I would like all the weight on one wheel on any steeper ground when turning!
Well able to drive it, although it is a good work out for the tractor!, and a heavy crop and/or bit of a climb will slow it down!

For those reasons (and for a cab!) we usually run it on the 148 as it has heavier arms

The Kuhn GMD44 looks like a lovely machine. I put the heavier type lift arms on my 135 reconditioned the Hydraulic pump recently and use two stabilising bars on all implements. Did you buy yours new? Does it have the Hydraulic or manual fold up? How much would a good second hand be?

A good few years ago when we were stuck we borrowed a 8ft kuhn and ran it on a mf 135. She had no bother lifting it or driving it but folding it up inspired no confidence, we were convinced the tractor would turn over

ours would have been nearly new when bought, but that must have been 15 or so years ago! It is a manual fold up, i dont think we had anything else hydraulic when it was bought so the tractor wasnt plumbed for it, hydraulic would be handy though!

i was looking at swapping ours out a year or two ago for a bigger machine as we have a bigger tractor now, think i was hoping to get about 1200-1500 at the time, never did though and got a rake instead as thought it gave us more flexibility seeing as the mower is well able to do all the cutting we need (30-40 acres silage & about same topping), and can be used on any of the tractors.

Never have had any bother with parts from local Kuhn dealer either
