the club arguement is nothing to do with last saterday , it is a completely different issue.

in a nutshell wexford exposed what weakness we had in the 3 or 4 bad performances in the lead up to last saterday ,

particularly the sweeper role which was our ace card on the run to the all ireland final last year, for a start it seems to be the only possition in the pitch that pat donnellan can play, and his switch back after 20 mins showed a major shift in the play , although it was slightly hampered by podges sending off it had a major impact on our comeback

kilkenny showed dublin up the following day when they kept dublin down to 1-9 over 70 mins , cork and jbm had something similar in store for us last month also, a revert back to the old wont defend our tittle but it will go along way to stopping the rot

in my opinion unless we do , clare will be out of the championship and peter o connell will have been proving right all along.......time for a rethink davy!!!!!

I saw Clare in the league semi final against Tipp. After that people explained away the result that Davy was holding them back for the championship. I argued at the time that it isn't possible to 'hold a team back'. The only thing holding Clare back then and now is themselves.

I wouldn't get too caught up in how Clare play tactically. If I was a Clare fan I would though be concerned how off a lot of the Clare players seem to be. KK beat Dublin last week through sheer graft. Dublin deployed the same tactics that beat us last year. The difference this year was the work put in by the KK midfield and forward line e.g. Larkin, nominally playing at full forward, was defending between our full and half back line throughout the game.

IMO there is no mystery regarding success at inter county level. You need a certain level of skill tbf but you equally have to work your a*** off every time you line out.

In KK the football is normally run off in Nov/Dec and sometimes into the following year that is for those clubs that bother to line out in the football championship at all - many don't.

Football isn't holding back thr hurling in Clare. Football won't start till August. It will cause delays but that's due ti fixture conjestion which in turn isnt helped when we postpone our club hurling.

welcome to north korea , good to see our dear leader holding firm against the evil's of the media, of course they are only the minority in the county as we all love our dear leader davy and his and of course our founding father pat . may your thoughtfulness keep us brave and your wise words keep us strong.

ps as a mark of respect we shall have no more talk of that " OTHER CODE" from now on all we shall only talk about is hurling and of course the annual airing games which have taken place in cusack park every august 2 since 1971

When was the last time the footballers outlasted the hurlers in the championship. From a Kildare point of view I wouldn't be overly confident facing Clare. Watching the league final against Tipperary I thought these two teams are playing to a high standard and championship form has confirmed that.

We will have 1 of Kildare, Roscommon or Armagh in the next round. We will be underdogs against any of these teams but if we get a home draw anything could happen

it was probably 2012 when the footballers got to the munster final lost and lost heavily against kerry in the 4th round of the qualifiers , however this is a much better setup , the bulk of the 2012 team was made up with players from intermediate and junior clubs due to indifference's with management and the senior players from his previous job with kilmurry ibracine ,the other senior players gripe was mainly because the manager at the time michael mcdermott decided to take up the monaleen job ( limerick club) while halfway through the league

this year we seem to have as many of our best players available to us bar the hurlers, podge and sean collins an exception because there father is manager,

at home we would be a match for any of the 3 teams , paudie kissane is the coach and in truth he has the footballers fitter then the clare hurlers , they were very impressive against kerry, and today's scoreline of 4-26 away from home is kerry esque , slight worry about what we conceded though

watching the highlights there on the sunday game again , in fairness it was another great game credit has to be given to the players for battling with 13 men for most of the second half , however bugler was just stupid to do what he did so close to the ref , ........as for jack browne? he was lucky in nearly every start this year not to pick up a red , i was delighted when he was giving his chance but he needs to improve his disciple big time next year

in truth it was going to be nearly impossible to win 3 games in 3 weeks to get back to an all ireland semi, i did say at the start of the year that the only way could compete for an all ireland was by atleast getting to a munster final and by playing the least amount of games possible to reach the semi finals ,

we looked very tired for a long time over the last few weeks or even months , atleast the players will get a small break before the club championship, on the plus side we used alot of younger lads in the last few weeks which will stand to the likes of jamie shannahan and paul flanagan next year

wexford are on there way back , would be great to see them steel our mantle like they did back in 96 but i think there are a few years of yet, a good side hopefully they sort out the wides and take a few more sclaps before the end of the summer

however i am sure donal moloney and gerry o'conner have been taking notes should we meet later in the year in the 21s ......small matter of tipperary to be sorted next week though!!

we died on our feet yesterday hopfuly the break will give players time to recuperate and management time to reflect on a fairly colorful but short summer, best of luck wexford in the next round

Believe me. ..... There is a massive issue here that will eventually break into the media. I can't discuss it here but it is a scandal of epic proportions. Puts the whole lynch affair of 98 into the shade. So I would not be knocking davy or mcdonagh for comments passed in the post match arena. I think davy vaguely referred to it when he said " there is something I might talk about at the end of the year". Trust me on this. .

Season is over. Time to spill the beans I think!
Or else admit that this was just scare-mongering!

No. No scare mongering on my part. Not really sure how much can say here without getting in trouble legally or anything like that.

It infers that Clare and Davy suffered at the hands of a massive GAA nationwide conspiracy against both.
There was no conspiracy, there is no conspiracy, there never was and there never will be. It began in Davy mind, transferred to a few supporters and remains there and only there and it impacted adversely on the performance of the team. Every genuine hurling follower form every other county is entitled to ask for Davy to shut up or put up, s%it or get off the pot, he has talked the talk now its time to walk the walk. Davy made this year all about him & referees deflecting away from his teams extremely poor performance saying they will be back. Well Davy there is no guarantee of that and they will not be back if this kind of carry on is allows to continue The fact is you turned a team of champions into a team of also rans.

Where would be the best place to park in Ennis for the football match on Saturday night lads?

It's fifteen years since I was last in Cusack Park.

Abbey st carpark is handy if you can get a space. Just up from that is Bindon st. Both within 5 min walk if the park. There's a grand wide road behind the Colaiste school just over from the Club Bridge.
Tbh anywhere in around the town centre and you'll be grand. Park is located in the town itself.
The facilites haven't been updated since your last visit.

it would'nt be a clare -tipperary u21 game would out being surrounded by controversy , harsh sending off to put it mildly on tipp , should have been a clare line ball or free to start with but great game none the less

Good game alright. Wish I paid more attention in Irish class though, haven't a clue what these lads are saying at the moment.

O thought it should have been a free in to Clare. Think the officials only changed their minds when the crowd began making noise.
Maher was a loss for Tipp in et. He sheltered his fullback line fairly well as sweeper and distribution was by and large productive.

Overall great entertainment. Was wary going into et as it was the third time in 12 days some lads had to go the distance and more.
Hopefully Shane O Donnell and Cathal O Connell will be fit in time for the final

I thought o Donnell looked very lively for the few minutes he played so I would be hopeful. Galvin was immense yesterday I thought, should have been MOTM.

After a quite opening 10-15 mins Galvin was quality. hurled an amount of ball with some really good intelligent deliveries. Always made hinself available to his backs to take a pass uf they were under pressure

He does a lot of donkey work, I watched him chase back and dispossess lads yesterday that should never have been dispossessed. He has a great hurling brain in fairness. Cleary seemed to step up to when he went to centre back, got well on top in extra time. Very good show from Colleran at corner back aswell. It made for a great atmosphere in the park.

both teams unchanged from last weeks wins over carlow and down

for clare its been a good year so far gaining promotion running kerry close and even gaining the plaudits from our arch nemesis on the sunday game pat spillane

but a win tonight would be huge , it would allow us a shot at one of the beating leinster/ulster finalists a top 12 finish and what better way to mark the 22nd anniversary of that momentous day on july 19 1992 in the gealic grounds :pac:

but what ever the outcome tonight, it will act as a yard stick to where we are at in the world of football and should we lose it will be a guideline to what we have to do in future to get to the next level,

we will always be top dogs in the world of hurling , but i always feel for the amount of football that's played in the county and how serious its taking at club level we really let ourselves down at inter county level , a big chance tonight to change that for good

very steep i taught it would only be 10 euro , 15 at most , but yeah you should be able to get 5 euro back with a concessions card

    Clare 0-12 Kildare 0-13 Ft.

    ****e.

The lads can hold their heads high. They've made excellent progress this season, I think a big scalp is only around the corner.

They put it up to them in fairness and only for a few bad wides in the second half we could easily have won and it would have been no fluke. I'd still be hopeful for next year though, Colm Collins seems to have brought them on a huge amount this year.
