I think I remember Henry himself saying we needed to make champions league to attract the better players. There seems to be an attitude from Ayre of 'ah sure we tried'. With luis gone Rodgers is gonna have to be backed big time or we're facing europa league.

At least we have Europa League to fall back on. It could be worse, we could be... Southampton.
Surely he deserves full control of who he wants in and get rid of that panel. There's no way he looked at Cissokho and said i'll buy him.

Harsh on Cissokho, he was very good for PSG. Did well at the WC.

Any particular reason you chose that part? I also mentioned him being available for transfer, being one the most impressive players in Europe last season, and being a big upgrade on Suarez.

Ah ok. So if you make other points it means you're allowed make another that's complete rubbish.

Even the rest is garbage. One of the best in Europe? I can think of several ahead of him.

And an upgrade on Suarez? Seriously?

Have you not seen Ozil. He's outstanding.

Really not liking who we're being linked with up front. Remy & Bony combined are not good enough to replace Suarez.

Markovic aside all the rest are really uninspiring.

Lallana is possibly the only proven quality deal we've done so far and at that we paid far too much for him.

£23m. If your going to say £16m + add on's please give me a link, also, add-ons will probably be paid unless they involve stupid stuff.

Jaysus, whoever pi**ed in your cornflakes, it wasn't me.

It was discussed earlier in the thread that Bournemouth received £4m as their 25% sell-on clause and delays in completing his transfer were due to the division of upfront payments and add-on clauses wrt Bournemouth.

As to add-ons, if he activates them all then i have no problem paying them all as per his contract as i assume they are partially linked to winning trophies and qualifying for the CL.

If that doesn't float your boat then fair enough. Each to their own.

Of course I have. He's a brilliant player.

    But better than Suarez?

And he's had an ok world cup. He was the quietest player on the pitch for Germany against Brazil.

That's the kicker there isn't one footballer in the world that could replace Suarez bar Ronaldo or Messi and neither of them are going to join Liverpool.

So we will be looking for a number of player combined to replace him.

You are talking about popeye here right, the guy who played about 5 good games for arsenal and who has been utter muck in the world cup, as for being an upgrade on suarez give me strenghth:rolleyes:

Gary Doherty could provide both the defensive cover and the attacking threat required.

Liverpool aren't as attractive a proposition as Arsenal, he cant force Sanchez to go to Liverpool.

    Possibly.

But there's certainly better out there than Remy and Bony.

Asenal got ozil and now sanchez, while we are still fcuking about buying substandard **** like lambert origi, can, and lallana ffs will we ever learn

We wanted sanchez but he wouldn't come what more do you want the club to do?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,419 ✭✭✭Fescue

The people who will fill the void left by Suarez are probably already at the club in my opinion. Sterling, Coutinho and Sturridge all have room for improvement. The latter two are still so young but have huge potential. Sometimes we are looking across the ditch at other cows, when all along the cows we have are producing lots of milk, which we will pour on the cornflakes of our league challenge...no I've let that one get away from me.

    Just on Marković, a Portuguese buddy of mine is a huge Benfica fan. I asked him about the kid earlier. This was the response;

"He's one of the most talented players I've seen in a long time. He has a lot to learn and he'll need to get used to the Premier League but it is my opinion that he's set to become - hands down - one of the best forwards in the world."

Rumours that Mesut Ozil may be available. Probably been the best player at the World Cup, and one of the most impressive in Europe over the season. Would be a big upgrade on Suarez.

Ozil, one of the best players at the world cup???? You must have been watching replays of the 2010 world cup.

I think you have to take notice of a player who leaves Serbia for €10 million I think at 19 for starters and then one season later moves to England for €25 million.

More likely to win trophies with them or Arsenal. It's perfectly understandable.

Make it stop. They've had enough already.

They can pay him a lot more in wages to make up for the inconvenience.
