Imagine being subbed in at such an important time and winning it for your country. Some feeling I'd imagine.

Disappointed. De Jong will be free to assault Messi now. There's no other reason to have a thug like that on a soccer pitch.

He is injured for rest off the tournement, along with Neymar and Di Maria..
Only Germany not missing starting XI player - but they had no Reus for the tournement

The better team went through, Costa Rica had nothing to offer up front and spent the entire match just defending and hanging on.
I still hate the Orange bastards boo.

You could say that about all four teams in the semis. With the amount of diving I've seen I thought it was a swimming contest.

Surprisnly not much diving from the Argies... buuut they have Mascherado, possibily the most unlikable player on the planet since Van Bommel retired

Nah, it's more so with the Dutch.

I don't get the Robben hate Muller,Neymar,Suarez to name a few are just as big offenders of diving tbh it's up to to the ref and FIFA to do something about it,however reds would be harsh given sometimes it looks like someone dives when they actually get clipped.

They should let the game get a bit tougher, then no one would get frees if they dived. At this stage when you touch a player in the ankle they go down and start screaming/rolling etc., if they only gave frees for proper tackles (dodgy sliding tackles, clear shoving etc.) I think players would be far more inclined to stay on their feet.

    Won't ever happen though.

I think coaches tell players If they get touched they should go down anyway and I kind of agree If you look back at the Arsenal/Spammers game Sagna made a bad tackle on Jarvis that was worthy of a penalty but Jarvis stayed on his feet didn't score got no penalty they went on to lose the game due to that he also received a bollocking from Fat Sam in the media. It did cost them a point possibly 3 as the game would have went in West Ham's favour at that point.

It's purely FIFAs fault for not implementing it I do remember Robben was clipped outside the box against Mexico and he didn't go down and it resulted in nothing for Holland.

Now imagine say Rooney did that for in a World Cup QF and stayed on his feet in the 90th minute but got nothing out of it while losing on penalties for example that player would be singled out so harshly by the media.

Yeah, I get what you're saying about the managers, it would really be foolish on their part to tell players to stay on their feet when they feel contact in the box because football's such a results business. If the other team's going to dive to win a penalty then it just makes sense to to your players to do the same.

It really is up to FIFA to solve the problem. Clipping someone's ankle shouldn't necessarily make a player go down all the time, to solve the issue they really have to bring in retrospective yellow cards for simulation or else they'll have to just have to get referees to give less soft frees. If you get pulled down/taken out of it fair enough but fouls shouldn't just be awarded whenever there's a small bit of contact.

I agree post match video review would clean the game up considerabally - this world cup has highlight all that is ****e with football to me
    - people feigning injury
    - Biting
    - poor refereeing to a point where someone get his back broken
    - Players sticthing their team mates a loaf
    - possible match fixing
    - players refusing to get on the plane without bonuses being paid up front

I would say Fifa are doing a pretty crappy job up to this point

I dont want Brazil or Netherlands winning. Brazil showed the ugly side of their game last Friday kicking lumps out of the Colombian players and Holland are not much better.

So a Germany - Argie final looks about right with Messi winning the Golden Ball.

The idea of Germany winning anything just fills me with an overwhelming sense of anger. At least soccer is the only mainstream sport they're in anyway competitive in.

Why?? I'd like to see the Germans win. Find them a lot easier to get on board with than other teams.

Can't warm to the Brazilians or Dutch
