Won't be decided until after the draw is made on Monday. I would assume it's on in Wexford, but the qualifiers aren't automatically a home and away situation so that mightn't be true, I'd like to see a double header with the footballers but I doubt Wexford or Carlow would agree to that

Replay is 5pm throw in next sat in wexford park.

I know there will hardly be a huge overlap in those traveling to either but when are the footballers due to play next week?

I was told by a player that its 5 next Saturday in wexford. Thats what they were told in the dressing room after yesterdays game.
That said, on the radio today they maintained decision on time and venue wouldn't be until tomorrow.

Regsrding footballers. They're out next Saturday away to Carlow. Think its a 2 or 2.30 throw in

peter o connell was on rte radio this evening giving his account on what happened yesterday after the game,

he said he was waiting around at the back of the tunnel for the other clare champion reporter seamus hayes to make sure they had not interviewed the same players/management . while he was waiting davey fitz came charging at him shouting abuse saying he was " trying to damage clare hurling" , which was in relation to a write up in the clare champion after the cork game

peter is more commonly a football corespondent but i have to say i dont remember reading anything in the champion that was in any way damaging to clare hurling after the cork match,

apparently in the altercation davey had to be held back by a member/members of his backroom staff , no punches were throw but as he said on the radio this evening , it was pat fitz davey's father who under no uncertain terms told peter to leave

there has been an awful lot of stories over the last few weeks about players and management falling out or leaving the squad, which all turned out to be untrue , most of these rumors were put out as wishful thinking from people around the county and probably a statement of just how unpopular the guy is across the county , and for anyone who asks the qustion "why?" well i think yesterdays events would be a good place to start with , no other inter county manager would act in this way , peter has a job to do and its not up to davey what he writes,

yesterday the hurlers put in a great performance to come from 10 points down, but they looked over trained and very tired, the first touch with some of the players was well off , and we were well of the match pace, something mr fitz should be working on over the next few days and not worrying what the local press think

I heard the interview, I found it a lazy piece of reporting to be carried on RTE TBH. I thought I was listening to Joe Duffy.

    - Davy flew off the handle to a reporter, bad form but it does happen (Cody v Marty)

    - The reporter goes on national broadcaster to give his account of the events ( WTF - does anyone outside the county really give a toss if Davy and a reporter had words?)

    - Do people think that Cody has his naysayers in KK - he does but they don't go on RTE to give him a bashing.

    Anyway, my 2 cents worth.

as far as i know the footballers game would be put back 24 hours if the hurlers were in action next saterday , as far as i know carlow have agreed to it already,

while we are on the subject , kerry beat cork in the " seeded" munster championship today by " 12 points".................... i was always under the impression that the idea of seeding teams in munster was to keep us rubbish football counties away from ruining the great spectal that is the munster football final

if i remember 2 years ago clare lost by the same margin to cork in the galic grounds , every pundit in the country was slating us saying we were not good enough for this level, martin mchugh said he felt sick at the taught of watching the game ,

i have a funny feeling cork wont come under the same level of scrunity in the aftermath , i cant imagine people like ross carr coming out in the papers next week telling cork to stick to hurling ether ,

tipperary lost by 1 point to cork , clare lost by 4 to kerry , ...............a big congrats should be handed out to robert frost for coming up with this master stroke of a system for this years championship

for all the begrudgers in Clare, cop on, seriously. Just because you had a talented bunch of hurlers does not mean that you automatically win the all Ireland with any manager. Davy did a great job last year, Clare played spectacular hurling and IMO Waterford made a huge error in letting him go when they did.
The man is an out and out winner, he has his faults, but at the end of the day he will leave no stone unturned to try to get a win. Comments like were repeated above about his mother by his own people are an absolute disgrace and people like that should either get kicked out of stadiums or get a slap off of proper fans.

the guy went picking a fight with a journalist because he didnt like what he read, that there is the problem .

if you put yourself in the public eye like he dose he has no business doing what he done yesterday, its part of the job to get criticized , and as i said he should concentrate on what he is employed to do not pick fights, and what really annoys people here is his father got involved

the reason they are so unpopular is down to club level , and the blatant disregard shown by pat fitz and davey over the last couple of years has everyone's patients tested to the limit ,

i am not a davy basher for what he has done as a coach , but his behavior at times is awful and the treatment of clubs is a disgrace , its a dictatorship here in clare at times , we are not arrogant just fed up with the same antics.

i dont agree with anything abusive that was said to him , but he got off on the wrong foot with clare people when he was caught shouting abuse on tv at a waterford player " i have 2 all irelands you have got **** all" some cheek if you ask me considering he had just managed the same player the year before

Davy did a great job last year,
No he didn't, he lost his first match in charge and drew 2 more games, that's not a great job
    Clare played spectacular hurling
I wouldn't call it spectacular, great free flowing hurling yes, not spectacular.
IMO Waterford made a huge error in letting him go
j@ysus, really? county board nearly bankrupt, biggest All Ireland Final loss, no youth coming through, anything else?
The man is an out and out winner
except for all the losses and draws I assume
    he has his faults,
    this I agree with
but at the end of the day he will leave no stone unturned to try to get a win.
Except for stones that he doesn't like
Comments like were repeated above about his mother by his own people are an absolute disgrace and people like that should either get kicked out of stadiums or get a slap off of proper fans.
Even Jesus had to put up about comments about his mother

Eh....... I dunno why you're comparing it to the Cody-Marty interview from the 2009 final. It's a completely different situation.

Marty was actually interviewing Cody at the time whereas Davy started hurling abuse at a reporter who was minding his own business. Brian Cody didn't have to be physically restrained..... Cody wasn't calling Marty every name under the sun ..... And the County Secretary didn't tell Marty to eff-off.

    Bizarre comparison.

Davy will go to any lengths to deflect criticism of the players.
In a sense it's admirable , however he does go a bit far at times

I guess the point I was trying to make is managers and press have goes at each other, the reporter doesn't go giving an 'exclusive' interview about what happened.

Ok - Cody v Marty was a bad reference;-)

Whilst its not nice to see the abuse Davy was getting, he's not too shy about giving it.
Maybe he should bite his own tongue now and then

If the manager of the reigning All Ireland champions has to be physically restrained its going to gather headlines.
If the reporter was contacted by Radio 1 was he supposed to say 'no comment'

with all the rumors flying around the place in the last few weeks it was probably better that peter told rte what happened considering the stories that were going around the place sounded far worse and far worse on davy , and anyone who knows peter o connell would tell you he is the complete opposite to davy

but davy crying about the powers that be were against him is a joke and listening to the pundits on the sunday game feeling sorry for davy was hard to stomach , given the fact how many clubs were screwed out of playing a scheduled club championship game

i read somewhere that 450 players are affected so 50 players can benefit , eddie brennan also said tonight that the same problem dose not exist down in kilkenny because they dont have a serous football championship, that is not true the football championship wont start here till august at the eirliest and has no affect on the hurlers, if the club championship went ahead as planed last week davey would have probably blamed that on clare not winning yesterday

In Davy's world the ref's are against him and are having meetings discussing how to get him. The clubs are against him and are having meetings about how to get him. The media are out to get him. The only ones on his side seems to be the county board, thanks to Daddy Fitz.

    Draw made on Morning Ireland.
Winners of Clare V Wexford play Waterford.
It'll be tough going. If we can come out of Wexford with a win the Waterford game is 7 days later. And a 21s semi final at home to Tipp sandwiched in between.

And only 21,000 at the game as well so not exactly generating huge revenue either which was the strawman argument they put together to justify it

Anyone that has anything to do with Clare GAA has had a run in with the Don at some stage.

But to be clear, I don't have a problem with them as individuals, I have a problem however with the Senior Manager being the son of the County Board Security, in effect, his boss.

Is this Peter O'Connell's article in the Clare Champion that Davy was upset about?

That's actually a very good article and gets what went wrong against Cork pretty much spot on.

Heard Davy on the lunchtime news on Clare FM. Not sure if it was the same interview as on tv.
Basically according to Davy there's a lot of messing going on in Clare which is hindering the County setup.
My guess is that he's p*ssed that some club games went ahead recently. Fixtures that were set in place since last January.
Davy maintained that these forces are actively trying to stop Clare players hitting their max.

Absolute horses*it. As usual the blame game is being used by Davy.

The Clare team just didn't seem to function as a unit on Saturday. Between passes being misplaced and first touch just not being at their expected high standards.

Hopefully a week of preparation will stand them in good stead on Satuday evening. I suppose a few fresh players might make a difference. Maybe Morey starting along with possibly Arron Cunningham.
