Sorry to break the bad news but nearly 100% that if Clare win then a game against one of the other winners of 2B is the result, so basically 1 of the following

    Cavan v Roscommon
    Tyrone v Monaghan/Armagh
    Down v Kildare

There's a fair amount of quality there - 2 Division 1 teams, 3 Division 2 teams and the 2 teams from Division 3 who got promoted to Division 2. I'd expect Clare to get the win over Carlow but I think it's hard to see them progress beyond that.

sound for that i assumed the idea was the same as the hurling championship , looks like the end of the road so should we beat carlow

I wouldn't say that at all. We could have beaten Down a couple of years ago in the Park, the Ulster teams must be wrecked after all the games they've played and we'd have no fear for either Kildare or Roscommon, still, it's nice to be playing football in July :)

true but an away trip to any of those counties could mean curtains for us , but yeah a win in carlow would signal great progress for the year

Promotion out of Division 4, win a Munster Championship match, great performance against Kerry, that's great progress, anything after this is a bonus

Believe me. ..... There is a massive issue here that will eventually break into the media. I can't discuss it here but it is a scandal of epic proportions. Puts the whole lynch affair of 98 into the shade. So I would not be knocking davy or mcdonagh for comments passed in the post match arena. I think davy vaguely referred to it when he said " there is something I might talk about at the end of the year". Trust me on this. .

All could be revealed in 35 minutes time :)

I've heard of an altercation between Davy and a supporter outside the park after the match, punches thrown by all accounts, and not by the supporter.

That's probably it, nice to see Daddy stepping in to sort things out again, if only every manager got such paternal support from their County Board .

Davy fitz really is a horrible little troll of a man with an ego far too large for his minute stature.... I eagerly await the day someone pans him out.

He makes a complete ass of himself at times and it's no wonder he's a bit of a laughing stock outside of the county.

You do realise the man won us an all ireland last year. We are some shower of miserable bastards of fans, from not bothering to go to games to abusing the man at any chance.

Looked like about 12,000 there today? I'd say the players had something to do with that all-ireland too.

Try being a Waterford supporter! Clare definitely not firing fully at the moment but I would expect them to turn this around the next day. A lot of counties would have been glad to see ye beaten today-knowing it would open up the All Ireland for a few more counties.

No I do not realise that he won us an All Ireland, I do realise that he managed a support staff of multi-national proportions that in turn managed probably the most gifted generation of hurlers our county has ever produced.

It'll take some amount of Miwadi to sort stuff out this time.

I was including myself in my statement as well by the way. Why aren't the players getting the abuse when things go wrong.

After the Laois game last year we were useless and going no-where, after the Wexford game we were useless and going no-where, after the Galway game we didn't have a full back line, after the Limerick game we were lucky that they missed frees, after the drawn game we were stupid not to sit back on our lead at the end.

The nature of sports is no matter what people will always complain about something.

I don't mind that. It's the personal abuse I have a problem with.

Any one know where the replay will be played

Won't be decided until after the draw is made on Monday. I would assume it's on in Wexford, but the qualifiers aren't automatically a home and away situation so that mightn't be true, I'd like to see a double header with the footballers but I doubt Wexford or Carlow would agree to that

When someone shout Davy you little prick. Your father should have pushed your mother down the stairs 40 years ago I would find that quiet personal.

I'm not condoning people or their actions, but, if he doesn't want to be shouted at maybe he shouldn't be shouting at people himself. The guy has fixed hurling in Clare with a chat at his house, he solved drugs with a 2 hour meeting in a hotel, he was bullied all his life, surely having someone saying something to him shouldn't have too much of an affect on him.

I'm not feeling sorry for the bloke. I just don't understand the mentality of people who abuse the man after all he has given to clare hurling. I don't like the bloke myself but I respect what he has done.

I'm not questioning all he given to Clare hurling, but I would question that he's not always the best person at the time, even when he was playing he was prone to errors.

I think I speak for a lot of Clare hurling people when I say that I wish he'd just concentrate on hurling and not the rest of the antics, not to mention staying out of the spotlight for a while.

The Fitzgerald Clan were on the sideline today, Pat of course as the Don of Clare Hurling (doubt he'd be that interested in a football match) and Helen in some other capacity, I wonder if there'll be any recourse for the non-playing rule being broken? Shane O'Donnell was there as well

There is 100% no call for anything like that for sure, and he has definitely given the county some service.

But he should be holding his head up high as an All Ireland winning manager from last year, instead the chip on his shoulder appears to be getting ever larger and he is generating needless controversy and attention to both himself and the team where there is absolutely no need for it.

Comments section underneath the article on facebook indicate that davy wasn't the one throwing the punches

Laughing stock inside the county as well as outside
