Have you ever travelled outside the country? FREQUENTLY.

    - Garth Brooks relaunching here wont get "serious coverage" in the USA. It's very rare that something gets nation-wide or even state-wide coverage there outside of big news or big sporting events. There'll be a small amount of coverage at best. HAVE YOU BEEN TO THE USA? I HAVE MANY TIMES AND I SEE HOW IRELAND CAN BE PROMOTED BY HUNDREDS OF CHANNELS AND THE REST. ALSO AWARE FROM FAILTE IRELAND ETC. THE IMPACT IT HAS.

    - Time to get the idiots out from the councils? These are councils we voted in only a month or two ago. You want them all impeached because they made a decision you don't agree with? PEOPLE WITH PROVEN BUSINESS BACKGROUNDS SHOULD RUN THE COUNTRY AS A BUSINESS AND GET THE COUNTRY OFF IT'S KNEES AND INSTEAD TO PROSPER.

    - Ireland isn't a laughing stock worldwide, I don't know where you get this notion from. HAVE YOU EVER TRAVELLED OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY OR READ BUSINESS PAPERS?

    - The financial benefit from an extra 2 concerts is minuscule in relative terms. Not every political decision should be made entirely based on money. Cancer treatment? Too expensive, let them die. Renting land to the UK for nuclear plants, fire away, we love money!
IF THE FINANCIAL GAIN FROM AN EXTRA 2 CONCERTS WENT TO REVENUE TO THE DEPT. OF HEALTH TO PAY FOR TREATMENT FOR ONLY 1 CANCER PATIENT WOULD THAT NOT BE WORTH IT???

The BBC is a disgrace, just did a search on their news app and not a bleedin mention of this world news, not a bleedin sniff of it, and them our nearest neighbours, absolutely disgusting.

Garth Brook's has always been for the fans. He doesn't want to see 160000 fans disappointed. They have paid for tickets and coming to see him.

He wants a solution for 160000 fans who have missed out, hence its all or nothing.

400000 paid to see him, they should see him. Thats what he has always believed in.

Would I be right to expect he'll be back next year to do the two remaining gigs for free? For what he believes in?

Those living in the area made the decision to live beside the GAA's main venue. Certain disruptions are to be expected

Yeah, GAA matches, almost exclusively on weekends, spread over 6 months and finished by early evening.

Not 5 late night concerts in a row preceded up 3 other late night concerts in a row within a few weeks of each others.

Nothing on cnn either, do they not realise this is world news.

So there is no agreement in place between the GAA and the residents that a certain number of concerts can be held there in the year?

I have no idea, but GAA don't seem to be denying it in the public domain.

New contract, in public domain will avoid future problems.

Why would revenue from the concerts be going to the Department of Health?

If the tax on your income was increased to 90% and it went to pay for the treatment of 1 cancer patient, would that not be worth it? How about we have concerts 365 days of the year, and divert all revenue to pay for cancer treatment? Good idea?

Apologies, it wasn't meant to be in capital letters.

All capitals are annoying, but refusing to read a two-line post because it's all in capitals is a tad ignorant, i.m.h.o.

Brooks is taking the piss with his gamesmanship here. That or he's nervous about the concerts.

Because he doesn't want 160k people to miss out he's causing 400k people to miss out. I see.

Nonsense. You swear he was opening a pot of gold factory the way some people go on. When he finishes up and takes all his money with him, if he gets out of his tantrum, he won't be leaving behind a shiny new Celtic Tiger.

The entire post was in capitals. He also got the quoting system wrong.

But they won't. They'll be going into the pockets of Garth Brooks, Peter Aiken, the GAA, Diageo, the hoteliers of Dublin and burger van operators.

Time to CPO the houses around the stadium and turn it into one of those vast car parks American stadiums have, no more resident whining.

Very, very few residents get free tickets. I lived around Croke Park for four years, the U2 concerts were on during that time. Never heard a thing about free tickets.

Also, once again "stadia around the world" are mentioned. Are you knowledgeable on the restriction in concerts and surrounding infrastructure of all these stadia? Somehow I doubt it.

I know two people who lived up there who got free tickets. I imagine that the majority go to those on the residents association and the like.

And no, I'm not privy to the ins and outs of restrictions of concerts around the world, what I do know is that there are many which host multiple gigs a year without half as much hassle as we're seeing here.

Concerts occur in stadiums all around the world and to expect it not to occur here is ridiculous. It sucks if you live there but they made the choice to do so knowing that there could be such disruptions. And it's still only 8 nights out of the year, if it was every other week then you could understand it but as it stands we have a venue which can accommodate huge international acts that sits empty most of the year.

Why? You have a problem with someone deciding not to read something that you yourself say is annoying? More than a tad ignorant by you, i.m.h.o

The thing is this concert will not increase over all economic activity in Ireland. Just in Dublin. And just for some Dubliners. In fact it will take some money and transfer it overseas - via Garth's pockets - and might be a net loss.

Do those registered businesses mentioned not pay ANYTHING to revenue which goes back into running the country?

But we're the laughing stock of the WORLD!!!!! Look again, maybe the Only in Ireland section, which is apparently a thing now.

People saying he is greedy and he needs the money and that's why he is holding out for 5 concerts, just did a few searches around and most say he has a net worth of 150+ million depending on different sites he signed a 5 year deal in 2009 in a las Vegas casino that was worth 100 million so I really doubt the man is strapped for cash

The go ahead has been given for three.

By organisers, I assume you mean Aiken? Didn't think events management was part of DCC's remit.

Yep, anyone going to the gig will be purchasing an invisible import. Unless there's more tourists than Irish people going (which I seriously) doubt, there will be a net overall loss, as well as the transfer to Dublin you mentioned.

Surely Mr. Brooks is going to be in trouble with the promoter if he does not fulfill his contract obligations. Each night is a separate contract , i presume, if only 80.000 tickets were sold he would have played one night only. Surely this is a ruse by the promoter & Brooks to apply pressure on Mr. Keegan. I would not like to be in Keegan's shoes this weekend ! A two week holiday abroad may be advisable!
