Some of the posts on fb are border line psychotic and threatening. A lot of people expected Christ himself to return to see Garth by the sounds of it.

Everyone should turn up anyway on the night they were due to attend and cause f*king havoc in the area!!! Make the residents regret every word they uttered against the concerts.

I'm not a Garth Brooks fan but the loss of revenue across a broad range of industries from this will be immense. Public transport fares, taxi fares, pub trade, hotels, reinvestment into clubs from GAA profits etc etc... Not to mention Ireland's reputation. What a joke!

Have you ever been to a GAA game ? Culchies bring soggy hang-sangiches and sugary tea everywhere with them. They won't be spending their money on fancy wraps and prawn sambos in the big shmoke.

Anyone else I'd have sympathy. But Garth Brooks fans? You just half to laugh.

How is it not the residents fault the only reason 5 nights are not going ahead is because some residents are so far up their own hole they wont but up with a small bit of disruption and instead ruin the plans of 100's of thousands of people.

Karma is going to bite them residents and bite them hard......

So the residents sold tickets for a concert when they didnt have the planning for...did they?

Karma? you clearly dont understand the concept.

Will the residents still want compo I wonder - it's still double the amount of concerts?

When were they looking for compo in the first place?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,670 ✭✭✭Peppa Pig

I'd say the residents would drop their objections if Saturday and Sunday had a matinee show as well as the night time ones, as long as they had copper fast assurances for future years.

Not much extra disruption for them and at least all concert goers would be accommodated.

jesus the trolling in here is incredible. You dont like Garth brooks we get it stop sneering at people who do like him. Awful lot of people really looking like prícks the last 3 pages of this

Just shows you that dcc can be bought.. Aiken should be made to compensate the hoteliers etc as this is all their fault.

The same hoteliers that put their prices up as soon as the concerts were announced? They have plenty of time to put their prices back to normal and re-sell the rooms. Should be no problems in the middle of summer.

am i the only one who doesn't get this? they started building croke park in the early 1900's, so surely anyone who bought a house near there knew they were buying in an area that was going to be disrupted on match days and gig nights?

reminds me of the people in Cork who bitch about Ucc students living around them when THEY bought a house on the doorstep of a University that has been there decades?

or those who build right next to racing tracks and then complain about the noise on race days

All these over privileged people who think they have some sacred right to see a gig. Laughing at them.

So back to square one :)

Not really, the announcement will be embargoed until some time later once all the parties have been formally informed. Take it from me, the 3 nights is the decision.

It's simple, they agreed to a certain amount of concerts and then tried to break that agreement.

Please... its 100% the residents fault, if they shut their holes all 5 nights would go ahead.

This, GB fans, is why the Residents didn't want you. Charming, isn't it?

No they agreed that they could hold three concerts per year without the need to apply for a licence, and that any concerts above this number would require a licence application.

Strange, given how many times this has been pointed out, that some people seem incapable of basic comprehension.

Happy days. I'm absolutely delighted that DCC saw some sense.
It's a win for the little guys and a bitter pill to swallow for the umpteen trolls that have been festering in this thread.
    Great start to the day!

You're not a "townie" so therefore have no idea what you're on about wrt any disruptions that would be caused.

If I was you I'd be hoping there was no such thing as Karma. Going by your comments on the thread alone I'd say you're overdue a fair bit.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

should not have needed an agreement see below:

they still somewhere in the last 50-60 years bought a house on the doorstep of a stadium and now are complaining because it's too busy??? they should have known it was going to be busy at times, like my other examples it seems to be an irish thing of not doing your research properly before buying a home, and complaining after the fact!

They're not complaining about match days and the gig nights have't been going on that long and never 8 nights in one year before.

Strange, giving how many times this has been mentioned, that noone can link to it? Most i've seen is a link to someone mentioning it.
