Going from TUS to CE Scheme

Hi All,

Asking this question on behalf of my mum (57 years old). She has just recently finished a TUS scheme after a one year placement and immediately signed back on Jobseekers Allowance after finishing. She would like to apply for a CE Scheme but doesn't know if she is strictly eligible for this. I have tried to find out and although the Citizens Information website says that it doesn't usually qualify you, it says there are some exceptions. Any ideas?

According to this, see below, your mother may well be eligible to do a CE Scheme for at least a year anyway. She could go to Intreo and check out her eligibility.

Time spent on Tús, Rural Social Scheme, Springboard, Momentum, JobBridge or Back to Education Allowance will not count towards the qualifying period for eligibility to CE. Entry to CE following any of these programmes is not considered as a suitable or valid progression. The only exceptions to this rule are:
if the BTEA was being received for second-level education purposes.
Tús participants who have completed 52 weeks on that programme can progress onto CE for a maximum of one year where it is considered appropriate within the context of an agreed progression plan mediated by Intreo/DSP Employment Services. http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Part-time-Job-Option.aspx
