Why Chris?? Bumper will make the car :)

Ha ha, I meant because my rear control arm and shocks arent repaired yet as the garage said it will take them 3 months to get here from Japan(acording to them), I am going to ring the insurance company tomorrow and see about getting cash, there is a set of coilovers I found some one selling and I can try to source the control arm myself, I wont wait 3 months thats for sure.

Did you ever get sorted on driftireland, possible that some of the guys on there will have standard arms lying about. Try "Greg" on it.

In other news I have started preping my bumper, all my primer is gone already, need to pick up more for tomorrow.

You're doing the bumper yourself Chris? You are, after all, talking to the pro here, hah :pac: I take it you have the proper spray gun as opposed to halfords rattle cans?

I have sprayed lots of car parts in the past but this bumper is the biggest, I use vinny byrnes http://www.vinnybyrne.com/ they actually have 2k in a can and their paint is very accurate. The front bumper has nothing to do with the insurance but I will give it a go. It looks rough in the pictures as I ran out of primer.

Wow, just found out I can get insurance on an E38 735i in February, next year!

    €2,485 for TPFT only though...

But still, nice to know :D

Interested in taking a trip to look at this. Anyone got any thing to say that they notice immediately that I should be aware of (aside from 407's usual electrical issues)?

I should downgrade to something that consumes less oil :pac:

But given an E38 735i is cheaper than my own to buy, with a bit of savings I'd have the cash for a year's tax and some fuel, perhaps an LPG conversion.

    It's a bleedin' V8 :D

Looks good! Bring a mechanic, don't buy it and take it back to one, that's, to me incredibly stupid, for a better word. Bring a mechanic and go look and fingers crossed :)

Bmw's regardless of what they are do nothing for me :P you could coat one in diamonds and i still would not care :pac:

2.0 HDI is the same 136hp lump that we have in the Volvo so I'd check the stuff that failed on ours:

    - Dual mass flywheel
    - EGR Valve

and then see if the turbo makes any odd noises.

Besides that, they're not bad engines in fairness.

    @pickles

But the sound would make you care :D

We'll see in February anyway, I should be off my debt grudge and into savings, so if I can save up a bit for one then sure, why the hell not?

    YOLO, right? :pac:

735i's are class I'd love one if it wasn't for the tax.

I'm done paying silly tax for awhile.

Once i've got 5 cylinders and a turbo I'm happy out.

I think I'd be willing to quit smoking and drinking for a 735i :pac:

    Promised myself I'd get a V8 before I'm 25, and I will for pete's sake :D

Each to their own. Alongside my 3k on buying bits for the St it was a bit of a pita to run on 2.6 tax bracket with 19mpg. Easily doable but became hard to justify after two years and I had my fun. Even at that I was paying sub 500e insurance.

You are only young yet no need to collar yourself with V8 7 series running costs.

Spend the money on coke and hookers

Getting my mechanic from Drogheda - Limerick and back again would probably cost more than the car, though. :o

Unless I ring a Limerick mechanic.

Well what about you, noccy? gurrier?

Surely one of you is an out of work mechanic that has nothing better to do with your days and specialise in Peugeot 407 engines? (or have at least a competent idea of what to look for)?

Of course, you won't be paid for doing it*. The intern will gain practical experience in....

    (*you would, obviously)
