Insurance pays.... its their contract etc. Id force that and also demand a better rental.

Not your fault parts arent here. Your being left out of car etc very big in convenience .

I brought back the rental already but may be demanding cash or else another rental car.

    Righto lads, listen up.

I've had confirmation that the actuaries coming up with the quotes for premiums have "changed how they're applying discounts / calculating premiums". Now, they have used the new discount rates being advertised (60%, 28% off the remainder), to work backwards and calculate the base premium. So rather than risk analysis based on the details you input being used to calculate the base premium - Essentially, the base premium has been artificially inflated for the sake of advertising purposes showing huge discounts, despite a net result in an increased premium. This has happened across the board and will affect everyone with Liberty.

I'm awaiting a call back from their underwriting dept. to see what the best they can come up with is. However, it's starting to look like a good time to jump ship - for everyone.

Keep at them, it took me 3 weeks to get the AA to admit (in writing) that I was allowed use my car in the whole country. The statement of FACT they sent me said "area of use, North Tipperary" they weren't a bit happy to do it either. Anybody else who gets their insurance through the AA check the statement of fact you were sent ;)

Right. Ya see when they cant get anything from me I put up a fight. I wouldn't give back a car unless it was for a better one. I had my rental an extra day because I finished work at 5:30 and the garage closed at 5..... I was told to pay for the extra day.... I told them not a hope. The insurance ended up paying the extra.

IIn your case id demand a car and they pay in full for repairs and not back down at all

I think you wasted your time there tbh.

do you mean to tell me because I was asked the main area of use I.e. north tipp that I cant drive my car outside north tipp or im not insured ?

If it had of said main area of use I would have been quite happy, it didn't, it said "Area of use, North Tipperary" this was a statement of fact that they sent out with my policy documents. They are the ones who keep on telling you that all the info you give has to be correct, they can't have it both ways;)

That wasnt the question you were asked on the phone I imagine... im sure it went more of the likes "where is the main area of use of the vehicle" or "the vehicle is mainly kept and used in the north tipp area"

So thats just wording on the document which is generic.

If I was asked "area of use ?" Id answer "ireland"

if I was asked "main area of use?" Then id answer kildare (town)

But at the same time do you really think if you had an accident outside of north tipp that you wouldnt be covered ?

Yep the real deal...... :D No remap there! :pac:

Sure what would you want with 130bhp get an sdi :pac:
All joking aside I've never seen an engine to take so much abuse as a 2.0 sdi vw engines. The caddys at work are on a 30k mile service interval  and they are absolutely dogged I mean abused still drive well with 200k miles. Pity there as slow as a wet week.

I'd imagine it was nice to drive. Once it has an nct and the abs sorted wouldn't be a bad buy just make sure he puts decent tyres on it if you do buy it. Even if you had to put the difference to them over wanli crap. I'm sick of buying cars which always have new tyres but always crap brands. I'd rather just get decent ones myself.

My golf 4 tyres on it all over 80% thread but 4 different fairly good brands won't be much good to me in winter. So I'll have to get some new ones well two at least anyway makes it a waste having to get rid of tyres with decent thread what can you do though.

Ya, was nice to drive alright, but not as nice as the Mondeo! He has a tyre centre as well, so I'd expect something decent. I'll give it a good thinking about anyway, very little else around to choose from!

Would you not just test drive a few mk5s to see what you think surly a 04-05 1.9tdi mk5 would be much more to buy than a mk4. I'm not all that up on what they make so there is a big difference.

Nothing decent below €4k really. I'd like to but then I'd get all upset with the fact I can't have one!!

Worth buying as a code reader for the S60 ? Anyone bought one ?

    http://www.diagnostic-world.com/pages/volvo_code_readers_189123-z=563718&p=67467.cfm#content_item_67467

@ Noccy, i went to Tralee to buy my car, whats afew hours for more choice in fairness ???

If im ever off during the week and you want to look at one not too far away and want to cover fuel costs the option is there bud.

That was their point, that it's generic wording, and it really means 'main area of use'

My point was if it means ' main area of use' why doesn't it say it?

They tell you that your conversation is being taped and incorrect details may void your policy, so for me it was simple, either correct it or I cancel the policy
( the policy was paid for and not due to start for 3 weeks)

Like I said earlier they can't have it both ways.

Why would you accept generic wording on an important document that supposedly means something entirely different to what it says?

But I will admit, at the start I wanted them to change it (as I said earlier they did but with extremely bad grace) at the end I was just yanking their chains because they'd been such knobs about it at the start:D

Presuming its a Volvo S60 SG, you may as well go the whole hog with the DiCe/Vida set-up.

Those generic units are fine for just ECU/EML codes but for SRS or parameter changes, (heated seat temp/aircon gas pressure test/damper motors ect.) go for the clone devices.

I did a fair bit of research before I bought the diag. cable for my S40 and found that most of the generic readers we're pretty much useless on my era Volvo.

The Vida software is extremely useful for exploded diagrams and part catalogue.
I tent to get funny looks just quoting P/Ns from the lads in the local parts department :pac:

Here is the one I bought,
    http://www.go2obd.com/volvo-vida-dice-diagnostic-tool-at-high-quality-good-815.html

Worth remembering that places with the capability to read a Volvo properly are thin on the ground in my experience and €90+VAT /hr to diag in a main dealer is a crazy amount of money to be paying,
the unit I bought, paid for itself nearly after one use.

    Any questions fire away :)

So I definetly wont be making the Pheonix park meet :( or cars and coffee, or Big Euro JDM style meet or Toyota owners Big meet. Maybe I should get an MX5 as a runaround or something.

In other news I have started preping my bumper, all my primer is gone already, need to pick up more for tomorrow.
