How is diving ever going to be stamped out with results like this? Robben is a disgrace to the sport. He can dive fifty times in a match and he only needs one to go his way. Shameful.

Robben blatently dived more than once during the match. He shouldn't have even been on the pitch for the full 90 minutes.

He did, no question, I'm not defending him at all, but there was contact and the defender didn't touch the ball. I would have liked to see them miss the penalty as punishment for the dive.

It's a contact sport though. Just because a player touches another and they go down and make a drama of it doesn't make it a penalty. I think it was a harsh decision.

Exactly, it's not basketball, oversimulation is one of the things that tends to turn me off the sport

And it's not being helped by the fact that serial divers like Robben can get away with it several times in a match without getting so much as a yellow card.

The only way to stamp it out is to introduce retrospective punishment.
The referee can't see everything in game so I believe each game should be reviewed after using the available video evidence.

What the punishment should be? I don't know. Financial seems pointless as the majority of players wouldn't miss it. Game bans? Name and shame?

Four years ago the Dutch reduced the World Cup final into a depressing farce, now four years on their theatrics are again making a farce of the World Cup.
I found it very depressing having to write "Holland" into the quarter final space on my wall chart. If a French player handled the ball Henry style to knock them out of the WC I would delighted!

here is clip of the goals... the penalty incident is @ 0:16. The tackle looked slightly late and unintentional, there is no way a player is going to risk conceding a penalty that late in the game.. but Robben was looking at the ref with his arms out and his mouth wide open long before his sorry ass hit the ground.
