    Penaties. It eliminates 6 players from each side, 6 players who can't effect the outcome.
    Why not eliminate players at start of extra time and play 8 a side. At least it would allow more players to have a chance and it would open game right up.

    I hate them too. After 120 minutes of lovely football it comes down to whether or not the keeper dives the right way.

    What I would like to know is: what coin does the ref toss at the start? I mean, if I were captain of Ireland and the ref were Chinese, and if he tossed a Chinese yuan I wouldn't know heads from tails, and the ref could pull the wool over my eyes. Do FIFA have a special coin or medal for tossing, with a head on one side and a tail on the other - in the interests of transparency and all that. And what happens if the coin lands upright in the long grass. Is there a replay, sorry, a retoss? And what does the angle of the the coin have to be to be defined as upright? I guess anything higher than 45 degrees is upright. No?
