If Aliens came to earth and had never seen soccer ball before, what game from the group stages would you show them as an example of how great the sport is?

Holland and Spain, or France and Switzerland.

    Iran-Nigeria.

In all seriousness, probably Netherlands-Australia or Mexico-Croatia.

    Who are the favorites?

I've Argentina and Germany in a couple of sweep stakes.

I've got €10 on Holland to win. Happy to see they've been doing pretty well. If there's anything to go by with World Cup 2010 and this, it's that they should get to the end of it at least.

Germany v Ghana. One of the best second halves I've ever seen.

If only Algeria could beat Germany, imagine a France v Algeria quarter final

see what happens when a team gives it a go against the Germans which is what Algeria will do (unlike one man team Portugal or the exhausted looking USA) The Germans will approach the match against Algeria with their usual arrogance by resting players or leaving out those on yellows while preparing for the quarter final against France.

I can't see Germany resting players or taking Algeria lightly Elmer, that would be more like something the Italians would do. :pac:

It's the last 16 and everyones there on merit, it's knockout football you can't take anything for granted.

Would love to see one of the smaller South American sides get to the final and I think it could happen. Chile and Columbia looking good.

    Hoping Chile crush Brazil today.

    LizT.
Match notes: Brazil have never lost at home to Chile. They have met three times in World Cups, all in the knockout phases:

    1962 Semi: Brazil 4 Chile 2
    1998 2nd Rd: Brazil 4 Chile 1
    2010 2nd Rd: Brazil 3 Chile 0

Today is exactly four years since that 3-0 meeting.
