Well it'd be my guess because crocodiles are cold blooded, and the water around these parts would be cold, and the temperature would probably not get high enough for a crocodile.

The UK has various species of snake, frog, lizard and turtle, all cold blooded that live natively. If they can survive, perhaps a croc could.

There were 72 licensed pet crocadiles in the UK as of 2010 according to the below:

Now, I'm no herpetologist, but I wouldn't consider that type of thing to be legitimate migratory behaviour as suggested by Gongoozler.

Possibly a caiman that the owner didn't want anymore or got bored with it.
Don't be surprised if people release them over here and they'll easily survive aswell unless someone shoots or traps them.
There turtles in our rivers ATM from owners who didn't want them.

They might survive in the summer but wouldn't last in any kind of cold winter. The turtles that are surviving any decent length of time are deformed and not growing or developing properly in our climate. No chance of breeding either.

The turtles that you see are also of North American origin where as the caiman people keep as pets are usually spectacled caiman from Central and South America so again our climate would slow them down to a stop until they die.

I'd well believe they'd survive the winters here. Being an alligator themselves is believe their bodies can definitely withstand our winters which IMO aren't really that cold.

    They're not alligators though.

They're basically the South American alligator. Same family

If there is a crocodile there, what's it living on? Beer cans and used condoms?

    The new London Whale.

Massively different in temperature ranges though. I have first hand experience of caiman and without strong heat lamps they will do nothing. They wouldn't last in our climate at all.

If this were 500 years ago they would be reporting sightings of a mermaid.

    Feckin sailors and their stories!

One day, there was no world cup for one day and this is the most informative news they could find to fill the gap...

Some idiot probably owned it, and then released it into the wild when it got too big for him/her to handle.

The avon is blacker than a guinness shíte.

    Dunno how it would survive.

    Are you suggesting it migrates?

Not at all. It could be carried.
