Yeah I'll get a proper build thread up once I move into the new workshop and get started on it.

Yep, that's a 156 GTA - a 420bhp Supercharged one at that......That photo is from the guy's yard I bought the Corrado from, he's a bit of a Fiat/Alfa nut. Has a turbocharged Seicento, the 156, a Punto Abarth Race car, a couple of Lancia's amongst others!

What about a 3.2 gt? You still have the good old busso with them in one of its best forms.

The brera 3.2, has the gm block which is horrible (well probably not horrible, but horrible for what it signified). It's also incredibly slow, but looks jaw dropping beautiful. If you've your heart set on a brera, I'd be going for the 2.4 jtd.

This one here looks very well too and I'd say you'd get a nice bit off the asking.
He was asking 4k for it last year. Even at the asking price, it's worth that much in parts.

Wtf is that priced so low? Engine size?

I'm not sure I feel any love towards gts tbh, sometimes I like them and others I go "meh"

I like GTs, but I prefer Breras.

But I'd buy the 2.4 farmer juice.

Nah seriously can't justify the devils fuel, moved job recently and my annual mileage will be a quarter of what I was doing, probably 6000 miles a year?

    Big engine tick
    100,000 miles tick
    It's an Alfa tick.
All the above make that gt unsellable in ireland, the country where gta's go for under 3k.
It's great for the buyer though so long as they plan on keeping it. Then again in my book if youre buying a car and worried about who's going to buy it after, you've bought the wrong car.

Paddy147 who used to on here had a very impressive 147 1.6 turbo as well.
I'm tempted to go bananas on the gtv if I start to find it to slow.

Your classic pony / muscle car are great fun to drive; sound awesome and attract great attention from young and old. Traditional set up ain't great in terms of handling but a few simple modifications can improve that a lot.

Each to their own but they put a smile on my face anyhow. :)

My thinking was like this though.

Near 300bhp 1300kg ST while fun but i was over 3 grand deep on it modificationa and labour alone over the course of 14 months or so while only getting 20mpg and it not being that comfortable as a daily.

Imagine the personal stamp you could put on a pony car with that money over a longer period as it's a car you will keep for 5+ years especially when buying a shed for it like i am and the money saved every year getting 10 more mpg and having a comfortable quickish daily ?

    Something like this for example.

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/03-mg-zt-190-plus/6900385

If it breaks no big deal you are still only down 1k.

Plus i've always liked the idea of owning a bunch of 2k 2.5ish cars one after the other to try them all out.

I dropped the powerflex bushings into the garage today, getting fitted in a couple of weeks, the ones half way along the lower arm are a bit worn too, any idea if you can get these without buying the whole arm?

I was talking to an alfa chap down in Wexford last week who knows him and he was saying that he didn't think that every saw the road. Some amount of work was done to those 147s. From what I heard The 1.6 had eoin murrays btcc suspension setup.

If all else fails give TI autos a shout, they had some for my car, not sure if they were powerflex, but they were the only place I could get them, they are not an original part for my car, the whole arm is with the bushings, TI have sourced them from someone in the alfa industry.

Just takes a quick call, I've always found them extremely helpful the couple of times I've called them. One arm for my car was some sort of mental money.

    Let's think logically.

A minibus is allowed to use a bus lane - what is the minimum number of seats for it ?

Tax is dirt cheap for a minibus

doe, use a transit and plenty of parts etc.

how to insure one ? Normal insurance + class 2 or 3 ?

Tempted to buy one so I can has bus lanes !

At least 9 + driver for the number of seats, otherwise it's technically a "car". That means an M or M1 licence to legally drive it.

Would it be classified as a PSV vehicle for Road Tax? If so, do you need a PSV licence? Can't classify it as a youth or community minibus, unless it's used primarily for youth or community.

Also - you'd have to drive a frickin Transit.

Its either whole arm or polybush if they're available.
Heres what power flex make for the 159 (developed with autolusso) http://www.powerflex.co.uk/road-series/products/159+%282005-2011%29-2830/1.html

Heres what strong flex make (http://www.strongflex.eu/en/1102-159-05-11). They're a good bit cheaper than power flex, but i know a few who have them and I've drove a car with them in it and I've no complaints.

Which part? The wishbone, the track control arm or the part onto which the spring sits onto (spring pan). At 440, id be guessing a spring pan.
As were talking about suspensions I picked up a power flexed rear suspension last week for 100 pounds with all the polybushes fitted. Making it 2 subframes and 3 sets of each suspension part I now have for when things go wrong :p

I needed to replace a bushing as it was a little loose according to the NCT creatures

The track control arm with the bush on it was 440, TI have four bushes in a set for about €90 the polybushes for my car. This was on the rear suspension

For the crack, after my mechanic looked at it and said he couldn't see any issue, I booked it back into the NCT and it passed fine

Btw the subframe on the gtvs is notorious for failing at the rear due to the original bushes being steel iirc

So, I've decided to pull the loom out again. Magically I have another 2.5 156 to pillage the loom from and another 2.5 to reference it against. When I have it figured, I'll make a custom loom from the 2 166's for another 156 or a certain blue van.....

Doesn't take long for a v6 to magically appear in the yard and begin the teardown. Anyone spot something about this car....

    Seats, - grand.

Driving license - on the way soon !

PSV ? well thats a good one because it wouldn't be used for PSV services, just as a private car i.e max 2-3 passengers at any time and not for any reward. I assume it would be a DOE so would have to be commercial tax and then insurance im not sure at all about as it would not be used in conjunction with any work etc.

Driving a transit - done it before and can do it again if it means i can have bus lanes :D (i think that includes contraflow too ?)
