    I see your Kuoki, and raise you a VR6 MK2 Jetta :)

May aswell have been an SDI with a video like that.

    No pulls, no engine noise.
On bags, all show no go.

Give me a drift/track spec Zenki S14 anyway.

Cnuts like the Westbury Baptist Church should be sprayed with sh*te from a muckspreader, so smoking them out of it is alright with me all day long. Less so pedestrians and cyclistst, that is a bit much.

I like them, they are a saloon version of the MK2 Golf. Roof rails can look good at times too. :P

There's a lad near me that permanently goes around with a surf board strapped to roofrails on his bora. He was not a surfer. He looked sad...

Do people install those Rev limiters to get that backfiring sound out of them or is it purely to stop the car from being over revved?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,925 ✭✭✭GvidoR

The driver looked sad? ...because he doesn't go surfing?

No no... He looked ridiculous actually. Why would you strap a roofrack and surf board to your car when you have no use for either? @ jesus - it keeps the engine revs down, many do fit them for the noise but they are hard on an engine. Great in drifting etc if you make peaks in the early revs then theres no need to murder it near the limiter.

I know what Rev limiters are for. I used to drive a lorry that had one only they were called a "Governor". It was possible to remove it though ;)

What I'm wondering is, do people actually purposely fit them to their car and is one of the reasons for producing the kind of sound shown in the two videos here?

I'd say the sound is incidental to the limiter allowing one to boot bejaysis out of the thing with wild abandon, secure in the knowledge that the 'rods won't launch toward the moon. Much. :pac:

Tangentially but relatedly, the kill-button on a sportsbike can make a wonderful firearm sound if it's flipped while keeping the throttle open. Or so I'm told... ;)

Isn't that a holy Jaysis terror. They sound like an Avensis with a hole in the back-box.

Because noise is lost power. And now that they have generators built onto the turbochargers there's no reason not to convert the excess noise into more speed. And lost power means lost fuel too - and it is a fuel formula these days.

Serious driving here. The real side of the Donegal Rally.

The youtube tag button. It puts the html tags in for you. There used to be an icon on the toolbar to do it.

Yes, today's F1 is all about preserving fuel, driving efficiently, preserving engines and steward's inquiries when two cars come within 10 meters of each other.
Its is indeed an exhilarating sport. For accountants.
I'd rather watch something exciting, like a bake-off or maybe the antiques roadshow.
Seriously, F1 has been sanitized and lobotomized beyond all recognition.

I as an engineer have great time for the tech of these cars, yes the sound is gone but the racing these season has been great!

Forget about the noise, tis gone, learn to enjoy it!!
