I'm just thankful that this happened in a Uruguay game and not a LFC one.

The outcry would have been unbearable and saying it reflected on the club etc.

Problem is now for Liverpool is that the guy is clearly cracked and cannot be trusted.

Lowers the price we could demand for him

He just had an excellent season that was incident free would people to think he was improving and leaving that behaviour behind him, now that's all undone.

We don't want to sell him anyway so unless someone pays up the release clause (rumoured to be 80M) then he's probably not going anywhere.

Why would we be demanding a price for him?

Not really. The release clause fee was going to have to be met in order for a club to purchase him. Thats pretty much still the case.

He could drive a bus full of special needs kids off a cliff and I would still love the guy.

You wont need to.... He will be staying at Liverpool........ He could be just a fan watching the game for next season

If he misses next season with a ban will Liverpool still have to pay his wages?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,911 ✭✭✭✭whatawaster

I'd take 80 right now, or 50 plus Sanchez

    I might feel differently tomorrow.

    What an idiot

Why are people acting like we should be disgusted by what he did and want him to leave? I couldn't care less, he's a class footballer and that really is all that matters. If it was my local team I might think differently, but I don't give a damn about what players do for some club across the water.

Well only if they kept him on the books. A club can release a player or sell a player.

Wonder what John W Henry is thinking right now...he is not one to be annoyed I'd imagine. By which I mean he is not a man you would want to annoy.

It'll only be a FIFA (internationals) ban, the FA won't do a thing.

I very much doubt he will getting any type of club ban for an incident at an international tournament.

Yes unless there is a clause in his contract saying he doesn't get paid while suspended for biting.

And there might just be a clause in his new contract :pac:

am I wrong in thinking this will help have him around until he sees out his contract?

I'm also thinking the harsher the ban from FIFA then the better for Liverpool?

anyone wanting him banned or removed
from the Liverpool side needs to give their head a good fûcking wobble.

hard to believe anything like that being written into his contract stating that Liverpool won't have to pay his wages if he gets another big suspension

Very strange looking marks if they're supposed to be a bite.

Thought Chiellini's elbow after the altercation was much more reckless, but you're not likely to hear about that.

I dunno, I think it understandable to react like that when someone is biting down on your shoulder

He won't be sold if he's handed a season ban. Can Liverpool release him without paying out the rest of his contract?

I think they will keep him no matter..... But if a FIFA ban does effect him at club level too and they mess up in the league and cl he might request to leave.

I think it all hangs on what happens next

If the FA did I can think of 23 other players they could give lengthy bans to for disgraceful performances on the pitch :pac:

Liverpool are not going to release a world class player for nothing.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 709 ✭✭✭Ranchu

He might not get away with an international ban though. He could be banned from football for up to two years according to some people. If that is true I'd imagine there could be some sort of full ban coming his way.

The FA can't do a thing thankfully as the moral outrage in the press would mean the death penalty

The big worry for me is that he's shown he can't change. Question now becomes do we think he'll last 3-4 seasons without another incident at Liverpool? Hard to answer, but if he doesn't then he's looking at a very lengthy ban. I wouldn't get rid of him per say, but I think it definitely makes me more inclined to accept a very large bid for him.

We're back to last Summer again, him getting his dream move to Real or this time Barca has gone. Nobody is going to pay 80 million for him now after today, so his real punishment when he looks back on his career will be that. For all the talk of him being in the top 3 in the world today shows why he isn't at the other twos level. Ironically the same unbelievable will to win that marks him out from those 2 is also his biggest flaw.

Saying sell him is bad enough...but release him from his contract...lol.

Well that would depend on the contract, given his history it might contain a clause regarding violent or criminal activity! Then again it probably doesn't.

Liverpool are not going to release a world class player for nothing.

So they could end up paying him to do nothing for up to two years? Doesn't sound ideal.
