Said at that the time, but I cannot seriously believe people here were clamoring for us to spend €50M on Hulk. If he was a 1/5 of that price, I'd rather stump up the extra €5M for Konoplyanka.

    Agree. He's a show pony

He's not even worth a 10th of that. Very poor player

Was that really a thing? I don't remember it...

It was definitely mentioned by one or two people here that we should be bidding such an amount on such a player if we want to compete at the top level again.

If Hulk wasn't Brazilian with a cool name he'd be a nobody in football terms.

    Dominic King @DominicKing_DM
Expecting Luis Alberto to be confirmed to Malaga on a season long loan tmrw. @LFC will receive a £1m loan fee; Malaga will pay all his wages

That's excellent if so, something that needed doing in January in all truth. Hopefully he'll either kick on enough to be kept or sold.

And thats just to Hulk himself!

Hulk used to be a fine player but that's what happens to players who go off in search of 'dollar' rather than career moves. Etoo was awful when he started at Chelsea, as an example similar to Hulk. Not saying i'd want Hulk but when you play in somewhere like the Russian league being average can be good enough and your 'level' sinks. You can look good in inferior leagues but in reality not be so.

I've been very impressed with Mexico.

Probably the most Hard Working Team, currently in the World Cup.

    For whats it's worth.
Although a figure of £82million has been mentioned, Suarez and his camp say there is no release clause in his latest contract and that indicates it will all be down to how much money either club throw at the project.

It's gas the way there wasn't a word said about Suarez leaving until he knocked England out of the World Cup.

Too much speculation about for there not to be something about it. I just hope that if he's going to go that it's done quickly, early and we get a serious wedge of cash.

Sure he wasn't world class before then.

    The penny finally drops!

I remember Liverpool getting hammered in the press after getting rid of Hodgson for the very same reason.

    He has zero ambition.

If Luke Shaw is 40 million pounds then Suarez should be going nowhere for less than 100 million pounds.

Doubt he will - he's not exactly the future.

Seems to be Sturridge getting the nod.

There was loads of speculation last year as well but nobody came in for him. I assume the club have a valuation and until that is met, he won't be going anywhere, just like last season. I believe genuinely that he'll be a Liverpool player next season.

    Lallana starts.

Be interesting to see how he does.

If Luke Shaw is 40 million how much is our kid Flanno? 20-25? Silliness all round

A few places reporting a Falcao move to Real Madrid. Hopefully that would mean no interest in Suarez

EDIT: Scratch that, apparently it all spawned from some commentator on Bein sports

Last summer he was not coming off of an amazing season and he also came with a lot more baggage back then.

Anyone looking at him this summer will have seen him stay trouble free for a season and will have seen his top class performances.

Clubs would be mad not to want him, but the list of clubs that could realistically go after him would be very short indeed. Would imagine that there are only five clubs that could go for him (I am discounting English based clubs because I don't think that would happen), and my guess is that if one or all of those five went for him that it would be player/s + lump sum offera being put on the table.

PSG - Cavani will stay, Ibra is still just about young and good enough for them esp in Ligue 1

Bayern - just have a hard time seeing him there for some reason.

Barca - Neymar, Messi plus Suarez would be a heck of a front line albeit one that would put someone's nose out of joint.

Real - Falcao apparently on his way

Monaco - Suarez wouldn't even give them a look for the same reason Falcao is maybe leaving.
