Not if you use it judiciously, which they would.

Also, as of next year, roaming fees intra-EU will disappear. :)

What do you get for €15 anyway? Do you get the 15gb data allowance and unltd texts too?

No. Just free calls and network texts but you still have the €15 to spend on texts, data, international calls etc as you wish. You could top up by the €15 for the free calls and buy a text bundle (€10) and 1GB of data (€5). So none too shabby if the topping-up mularkey does not phase you.

signed up with three the other day. Its €20 + VAT, I claim the VAT back.
All calls, texts and unlimited data. They also support tethering.

not great for roaming though, no packages available.

Does that mean for €30 you're getting the text bundle, calls and 1gb, or for the €15 you've topped up by? What would it cost to get 15GB of data and equal the €25pm plan?

Don't you need to sign up at least 2 phones to get that?

It's July 2015, so now is a perfect time to get into a 12 month contract so you'll be out by then and will be free then to go to whoever you want, should be interesting to see what deals are out then!

No - if you mean zero EU roaming fees then it's 2016

So I'm with Vodafone at the moment and would like to switch to the 24 month SIM only plan.

Do I sign up for the plan, receive the Tesco SIM & new mobile number and then switch the number to my current number using the 3 step process here

    http://www.tescomobile.ie/support/move-my-mobile-number.aspx

    Is that how it works?

Yes - I did it for my neighbour. Was waiting maybe 20 mins for the confirmation text (could take up to 2 hrs I'm told) but once had that could login with the ported (existing number) and was on the TM network.

if moving to bill pay did you not have to provide utility bills etc or was it just enter your bank account and done?

Yep. A minimum of 2 phones. Blueface, who are a MVNO on the Three network, are currently running an offer of unlimited mins, texts & data within Ireland for €19.50 + vat. IIRC it ends on 31st July and if you're in before that date, you will get that rate for however long you stay with them.

Just with the €15 you topped up with. If you wanted 15GB of data it would cost you €30 i.e 3 €10 5GB bundles.

The equivalent cost of all calls, texts, and 15GB of data on PAYG would work out at €40. But of course you do not have to purchase all the bundles if for example you do not need that much data.

The neighbour moved from Vodafone to TM bill pay. Sorry I'm not sure of the complete details. I only helped once they'd got the 089 SIM and wanted to port.

Thanks for clearing that up, so in my case, it would work out much better putting my dad on the 25pm plan so he's covered for pretty much all usage, will get a bill each month, doesn't have to deal with top ups or texting for bundles and will never need to worry about going over his data allowance, which I don't think he knows how to monitor and 15gb would be plenty for him :)

Ah that's not so bad, it says it will be in effect by Dec 15, so "By 2016" the article says which will really be only another 5 months after July 2015 which I thought it was before :)

I signed up last time this offer was on. Brillant value as Tesco Mobile don't charge for thethering with unlimited data so I use phone as a hot spot when I'm out and about for my tablet and never have to worry about costs...

I just signed up last month instore fora 30 day sim only plan. Will they let me switch to this one do you think? No problem paying the €5 extra...

EDIT - nevermind, just rang them and got switched to the new plan :)

Can I go to any Tesco store to get this? I can't find a list of Tesco mobile stores?

There's only a few TM stores. They are located in the biggest Tesco outlets in the Dublin area like Jervis Street.

You don't need to go to a TM store now, any store should do, but I don't know, can you get the micro sims in store or do you need to sign up online and wait for delivery?

The original deal was only available through TM stores for the bank holiday weekend in May I think but now the 12 month deal for 25eur is available anywhere from what I can see :) it's advertised in the Ballybrack store too

I went into Tesco Tallaght today and they told me that the €25 unlimited plan did NOT include voicemail which is 20 cent per minute - if he was right, and he checked on his computer, this would end up adding up.

    Anyone confirm?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,498 ✭✭✭quarryman

    So I ported over today.

Received my configuration settings. Download speeds are CRAP, barely 1MBps.

I've turned on data roaming (as instructed by their tech support) but it doesn't seem to have made a difference.

Restarted the phone after each change and seems to make no difference either.

It says I'm on 4G but d/l rate still terrible.

You can use Hullomail to overcome that issue.

just looked there on the site it does seem that voicemail calls are 20c per minute and customer care is 20c per call.

Seems like a great deal alright.

I am on the 15euros every 30 days (top up) which gives me unlimitedany network calls andtexts ang 1gb internet. I find the mobild data very slow, so would have trouble using up this allowance. Also, tesco clubcard vouchers deals means 5 euros of vouchers gets me the 15 euros top up needed for this deal. Might be handy to someone not leaving 3g on the whole time

^^ You dont get 1gb data with your topup, I think you need to buy it €5 that leaves you with €10 credit. Is your plan different?

When I top up be 15 euros, I get unlimited any network calls and still keep my 15 euros credit. With that 15 euros credit, I buy unlimited any network texts which costs 10 euros and 1gb internet which costs 5 euros. In total, I put 15 euros onto my phone and I get unlimited any network calls and texts and 1gb internet for a total of 15 euros.
