Pc gaming build €800-€1,000

Hi everyone. It's been a few years since I built my gaming pc (sadly no longer runs) and I am looking to build a new one. Problem is I am so far out of the loop that I have no idea what hardware to go for or where to look for hardware advice.

1. What is your budget? [€800-1,000]

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Gaming/Video editing/3D Modelling/HTPC/Internet] (Games, Games, Games

Key games I would like to play include Rome 2, Europa Universalis 4 and battlefield 4 on as high settings as possible - especially unit size maxed out in rome 2- as well as making sure it will be able to handle games that come out in the future for at least a few years)

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [Yes/No] Yes.

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [Hard drive/DVD Drive/Case/PSU/etc.] (If possible state brand and model of the parts to ensure compatibility) No, previous computer is far too old (built in 2006)

5. Do you need a monitor? [Yes/No] Maybe - might be able to get one off my brother but assume I need one.

5a. If yes, what size do you need. [19'/20'/22'/24'/etc.] 24' sounds like it would be best for gaming.

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [Keyboard/Mouse/Wireless Card/Card Reader/Speakers/etc.] No

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [Yes/No] No

8. How can you pay? [Bank Transfer/Credit Card/Laser] Credit Card

9. When are you purchasing? [In x days] No set date, whenever I save up enough money.

10. If you need help building it, where are you based? [South Dublin City/Cork City/Kerry/etc.] Don't think i'll need help.

This is a build im speccing for somebody else but can be a rough estimate of what to max out games for the next few years also. You could drop down a few things to save money such as going down to a 270x to save about 100 quid, drop the cpu cooler aswell and either the SSD or HDD and down to 8gb ram. It willallow you to get monitor aswell inside the 1k mark

Can get windows from Reddit software swap, plenty of links to it on this forum

Could change the monitor for an ips panel. Again, gfx card could be downgraded but the 770 will last for quite a while

Just a thought, but I have my old gaming pc still here. Would the case be reusable or have standards changed (It had a crappy built in PSU but I assume I can take that out)?

It's not that I am against overclocking, I just have never done it before and do not know how easy it is to do and how to do it without damaging the computer, I would be willing to try it if it is simple and safe.

Do you have the specs of your old computer at hand. If you list them out I can tell you what can be reused... Could possibly drop the HDD, Case, DVD drive, some ram etc so if you can tell me what you got that will be great

Its a very old machine so I have actually forgotten most of the specs (it no longer runs) - I think its about 9 years old at this stage.
I looked up an old post with my specs and it says it had the following
Processor:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.8GHz
Memory:
2048MB RAM (I remember this is corsair gold xtc ram)
Hard Drive:
Maxtor 250GB
Video Card:
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT

I have the case. Its missing a few panel screws and is very dusty inside but it might be salvageable (it was a very cheap case at the time if I recall)

I've about €700 saved up at the moment so nearly there cash wise.

Ps. You won't be using any of the parts from the old pc.

Agreed, nothing worth salvaging there. And id suggest against using the case as it probably has poor airflow/ features. Overclocking isnt actually too hard to do, just watch a few videos and read tutorials and youll be grand

Its an option there if you want it

And agreed, take your time to save up, it will be worth it in the end. I would suggest coming back again when you have the money saved up incase theres any price changes or new hardware out to make sure you get the best deal that you can
