The OSAAT club is for marathon runners only and when you realise that 99% of the world’s population are ineligible to join, you realise you are part of an elite club.

Some people really do believe that kind of sh*t. Seriously. Ask Kurt Godel.

So Kurt wears those bands ?

Seems to be a massive gap in the mark for half-marathon bands. Flog them over on the Dublin marathon page to the lads looking for medals.

"Why settle for a medal that you can just wear for the day? Sure you can wear it for two days but in the office? That would be just sad.

That's where the boards.ie half marathon band (5km, 5 mile, half ultra bands coming soon), comes in. Why wait for someone to ask you what you did at the weekend?

Let this awesome band speak for you and shout "YES I PUT ONE FOOT IN THE FRONT OF THE OTHER FOR A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME. YES IT WAS AN ACCOMPLISHMENT."

In any marathon, there’s seemingly a small group of elite runners who finish the race in a shade over 2 hours, and then there’s the rest of us. Whats the difference between them and the rest of us? The Elites These guys and girls are the professional runners, many of whom don’t have to sit at a computer all day and work. Running is their job. When we’re putting in the time at the office, these folks are out running…

Inconsiderate and ignorant dog owners. Those types whose dogs "never bite".

"you become the freak of nature"
    http://www.osaatsport.com/index.php/test/item/48-you-become-the-freak-of-nature

"Do we remember what we first thought of marathon runners?? My first reaction to hearing that people run 26.2miles without stopping was one of amazement. What sort of a person does that? Maybe they have a compulsive obsessive disorder. There must be something wrong with those people, maybe they have a mad determination gene or be freak of nature. "

Yes they be freak of nature (roll scary drums, sound of thunder clap - enter, stage left a monstrous clown like figure).

Saw someone tonight cycling in full winter waterproof gear including a hat and overshoes... it's 21c-ish and sunny. Nutter.

    The World Cup.

Oh hello darling digger... Nice to see you are alive and the roars coming from the other room aren't the posthumous sounds of your football loving ghost!

Not enough time to do longer workouts in the evening in that interval between two matches. Down with that sort of thing, FIFA should be more considerate :pac:

Had to sacrifice the first half of Spain-Chile to get a good cycle in today.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,957 ✭✭✭digger2d2

Spanish fans (mostly hens) in the crowd, spotting themselves on the big screen and smiling/cheering at the "stardom" as their nation exit the World Cup after two sh1t games... Absolute credit to their country ;)

That said, I'm a sucker for the underdog, c'mon Chile... Heads to The Rave thead :)

I am astounded by the amount of people in the gym running on treadmills on days like today or yesterday. The worst part is that the treadmills down in the Mardyke look out onto the running track, seriously what's so scary about running outside? Is it that you can't watch TV?

Around here - that's usually a boxer trying to make a weight. The real pros wear a plastic wind breaker .

Rant: they're still running faster than me.

A lot of boxers are fitter than many runners. My old Muay Thai coach ran 81 mins for a very very hilly half (4-5 faster on a flat course) and he is not a runner. His training would consist of a 45min easy run morn and evening 6 days a week prior to training which would be 1.5 to 2 hrs. So upper body strength was crazy also. The guy never did anything other than those easy runs. The dedication of a top boxer or muay thai guy (this guy was european champion) is very comparable with an elite runner. They would also probably lead you for dead in a sprint.

The guy knew the difference in weight from a liter of water and a liter of pi$$. Dedication was unreal.

Anybody who runs 45 minutes twice a day is a runner. That's 72 miles per week. Even if it's not his passion or chief aim, he's still a runner.

You are saying that he is doing 7.5 min/mile. Its more like 9 tbh. Its simply a warmup and treated as such. Yeah but its still prob about 60 miles a week. Thats crazy looking at it now.:eek::eek:

I'd assume that if he's an 81 minute half marathon, then 6 miles in 45 minutes would be 'easy' pace.

If he's not a runner with that mileage then what does that make me??

    Actually don't answer that
