Juri U1 is radically different. It does no damage, but buffs Juri. Lets her chain all her normals and speeds her up dramatically. (Her dash is nuts). Probably a bunch of other stuff too.
Whatever they did to it in Ultra it's all I see being used in arcades here.

Uh I know what Juri's Ultra 1 does guys, I was just saying I dunno if running Wultra on Juri is as valid of a practice option due to their properties as it would be on someone like Deejay.

Yeah, it's shorter, 690 frames instead of 900 if the Ultra meter is fully stocked, IIRC

would it be faster load times if we download the FREE SFIV:AE from xbox now and apply patch to that?
i already have the CD offloaded to the xbox but obv still need cd for that check

It's about the same, but there's no reason that you shouldn't get the free download either way; everyone should download it if they can - not needing the disc to play the game is always a plus.

I'm going to copy SSFIVAE and Ultra onto the consoles next time I'm at XGC so that we just need a profile login to play, rather than rely on someone to bring a disc and DLC.

Just downloaded ultra after getting arcade edition for free yesterday. Would anyone have any pointers for someone just starting out? I want to learn to play competitively too at some point but I don't want to get ahead of myself just yet.

Start with a relatively simple character like Ryu or Guile. Learn how to anti air with them (dragon punch, flash kick, and crouching hard punch are good AA options). Try not to jump very much, there will be a lot of temptation to but jumping is a big risk. Learn your pokes (crouching medium kick with both the above to start) to stop people from just walking in on you though.

Thanks that's rather helpful. I was thinking of using either Ryu or Poison. Is Poison too advanced or should I try her out?

No problem at all

Poison comes across as fairly simple too. She's new though so people haven't "figured" her out fully yet. I'd try her and Ryu out, nothing to stop you trying both, see which one feels better (I'm a Guile player and I picked him just because he feels the most natural to play.
