Gone online already by the looks of it, damn wish I had held out for one of these rather than the 520.

Ahhhhhhh c'mon, you can't beat the 520! I love it.........

Picked one up, asked the sales assistant if they were locked, she checked, vf locked meteor unlocked. Got it on meteor and is indeed unlocked and no meteor branding.
Very nice phone. Windows takes a bit of getting used to.

Did you try a non meteor Sim in it?

That's an added bonus for sure, the fact that its unlocked.

That's a three month subscription for Xbox live, I'll take it off your hands if you have no use for it :pac:

Do you get the voucher for the app store off Carphone warehouse or is it for every new windows phone bought?

To the people who bought it on this offer from cpw, was the phone unlocked?

I bought the Meteor version based on an earlier post here - which stated it was unlocked with Meteor. I can confirm that it is unlocked.

It comes in the box - it's a leaflet with instructions on how to redeem it.

Could be mistaken but i think meteor phones lock to whatever sim you use first that was the case with the Moto G they sell

If you install "Preview for Developers" app and register as dev they will allow you to upgrade to 8.1 - it has plenty of improvements.

I checked and it does not have simlock activated on first sim, I was able to use my French sim as well.

I got this phone today for Vodafone and nothing but instructions with the phone, do you register it somewhere for the app credit and 3 months Xbox live?

I read online that the screen quality was bad and all but today I had a look at the phone in-store and I can say, from a person coming from a SuperAMOLED 230ppi screen, that it is beautiful.

Bottom line is this is a great deal especially since it comes unlocked!

They probably meant outside sunlight legibility. It also shows every fingerprint. But inside that's not really an issue.

It great value though, more if unlocked. The next step up would be a a Moto G but thats a bit more expensive.

'Meteor' unit ex CPW is unlocked

Does the present Moto G support LTE ?

Its an Uber bargin ( shame about the lack of useful apps )

It does now. But I reckon the new model, when it reaches Ireland (or the UK), will cost a heck of a lot more than €99.99.

Now trying to figure out why I really need a Windows phone as well as a 'droid... :o

I am on Vodafone PAYG, but if I buy the unlocked one through meteor to use with my vodafone sim card, do I need to have a meteor PAYg account

Hi, I called into the CPW shop in Kilkenny and the Meteor version was locked - what CPW stores have people bought this phone in that were un-locked?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,457 ✭✭✭✭beauf

Did they test it for you. How did you find out it was locked?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14 catskin

The shop person looked it up on their sakes system and it was indicating that the phone was only available as a locked to Meteor

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14 catskin

I wonder is it mislabelled on their system then?

I thought it was the case that meteor phones become locked to the first sim that is put into them. Not that they are fully unlocked. If i put my three sim in it the first time the phone is turned on, it becomes locked to three.

correct me if I'm wrong :)

Sales people in cpw don't seem to have been trained up on this

I had to point out lte support and also GG 2 display

( I did not know about the various nifty Nokia camera apps or about Nokia's offline map support )

The thing would be totally grand if it were not for the third party apps offering which is limited, in many cases immature and frustrated my changes from 8.0 to 8.1. Who needs enemies when you have MS as a friend?
