    I preferred the vuvuzelas to whatever the Brazilians are using. A special kind of annoying sound comes from a vuvuzela.

    5live are just as befuddled.... Though I don't know why.

    The sensor system is designed to tell you what you cannot see.... Your eyeball doesn't have to verify for the decision to be accurate.

    They get more 'tabloidey' by the day at the BBC.

    There hasn't been a draw yet. This is not so great as my whole betting strategy is to cluster ties.

    But it will come. As surely as rain in Recife, somebody's going to be the equal of somebody else.

    So far, there have been three or four very good matches and most of the others el-stinko. But the round of 16 looks very promising already. Can you imagine Uruguay-Honduras (not meaning to imply they will get there)? There might not even be any survivors.

    The Germans will want to put the football into the goal, but then the Portuguese will also want to put the football into the goal, and I've got a feeling that both sides will want to stop the other side from kicking the football into the goal so I am going to put all of my money on both teams not kicking the football into the goal. 14/1.
