So is there places there for us in 2015?

Or will we have to wait and see if the government approve these places?

Thanks everyone - I guess ringing Manpower office tomorrow might clarify things but really this whole situation is quite a mess and very unfair to those who have gone through the various stages for a maybe position that may or may not exist in 2015 ...

Good luck contacting the Manpower Office. As I said I expect them to be very busy tomorrow. I agree with you that the situation is very messy indeed.

Did anyone get an e-mail saying they weren't successful at the interview?

I was thinking too about if anyone was unsuccessful?

    Who knows?

When I call tomorrow I'm going to ask if it's possible to receive feedback from the interview and will also check if he has to go down the Freedom of Information request route.

Id say the psyc test was just to filter out all the guys who were chancin there arm, it was an easy test to be fair so gettin 100% or 70% is no difference, there not going to judge a guy if he can add a couple of numbers in his head faster than the next lad, its completely irrelevent. What gets you in is your interview and your experiences to date in relation to the points you were given to discuss.

Hi my son got the same email ,put dont think this rules him out until 2015 ,he was told at the interview that they were going to call some for psyc test at random , we do know of one lad that got an email that said unsucessful, then you have those that got that random call for test again and then the 2015 emails , nobody got email with start date because they dont have a start date for recruits yet, hence any time between now and 2015

Getting called for the repeat supervised pyschometric tests at random would be very unfair. There has to be a scoring system for the interview.......surely!!

    Couldn't agree more.

Some people i spoke to .seem to think that those that got the email 2015 are in , and those that have been called for psyc test again are the people the are not sure of yet , maybe those with 2015 email are better placed than they think.

maybe you're right, but i cant comment on it because like everyone else here we haven't the foggiest whats goin on atal. Even when they do email it's still double dutch.

Ok lads this is from past experience on this, basically their is two recruits induction for one competition, their is the first batch and the second batch. The people who done best in interview etc are put into the first batch and they are the ones called back for the retest of the psychometric test to make sure they didn't cheat the first time then they are sent for medical and if all goes well they get their start date.

Then theirs the second batch the people that are put on the panel which is the people who got the email saying they were successful in interview and are on panel for 2015 which a lot of you got, they will not be inducted this year but next year and will have to complete a fitness test again and then go for their medical, no interview or psychometric test as they completed them already.

Hope this clears it up for you lads

I have heard they will be taking recruits in August. I was told this by one of the interviewers and a soldier I know.

Also one if the emails did state there would be a re-test of the physc test so I imagine the people with those emails are better placed. It makes more sense.

I rang the Manpower Office and this is the 'official' line. The guy I spoke to agreed that the wording of the e-mail is confusing and is inundated with calls.

    1. 284 people have received the e-mail about going to the Curragh for the supervised pyschometric test. Call it Panel A.

    2. They don't expect all the 284 to get through to the induction phase.

    3. There are approximately 200 people who got the 2015 e-mail. They are ranked in order of how well the did at the interview. If two candidates got the same score at the interview, the psychometric test score determines the place on the panel. Call it panel B.

    4. As the numbers decrease on Panel A (for example because of non-matching pyschometric test results, medical problems, non-acceptance of a place etc.), they call the first person on Panel B and work their way through this one until all available positions are filled.

    5. He said the results for Panel A would be available on 25 June and after a few days they could start taking people from Panel B.

    6. It is possible to get feedback but an FOI request has to be done. He couldn't tell me what my son's position was on Panel B.

    7. There is no guarantee that all on Panel B will be called to the next stage.

I got the email regarding the 2015 panel. Almost everyone I know had gotten this email. I think it's the ones goin for the psychometric that are in because why are they being showed the realistic job preview as well ? Almost the army wouldn't put down 2015 if they didn't mean it's really unfortunate but I guess we just missed the first batch :(

So I take it they are recruiting roundabouts 284 people? I thought it was less.

I'm just quoting what I was told. It's still pretty confusing. I forgot to ask when the 2015 panel would expire and whether the people on it would be informed that it had expired.

Perhaps somebody else could phone the office and find out as I don't want to be perceived as an obstinate, concerned mammy, even though that's what I am :o

    I also got this email.
Every other person I know got the email saying they are on the panel until 2015.
I think I prefer my email

I was put on the panel for the 2012 competition and one my mates was called in the first batch and I was in the second batch, unfortunately I missed the email for the call back a year later as I was away, so I had to apply again. Looking good this time around I have me psychometric retest in 2 weeks

Congrats man hope you do well in it :)

you sound right in what your saying

but when i rang manpower the said nothing about a first batch and a second batch being called up next year.

they told me there was panel A and Panel B

Panel A are front of the list and if anybody from panel A dont progress for what ever reason the would then pick from panel B to fill in the places

So still cant make out where 2015 comes into it

    Nice one man :)

Yea batch one being panel a and batch two being panel b really,

So if people from panel a fail medical etc people from panel b will be called to fill their spot.

Then the remaining people on panel b will be called in a years time for recruitment if recruitment is approved by government which it always is. So basically instead of creating a whole new competition for the 2015 recruitment drive they make a panel from the previous year which will be panel b :)

    Hope this helps yea bud

My opinion (for what it's worth) is that there will possibly more vacancies in 2015 but this will depend on getting the go ahead from the Government to fill the places. They will fill places from Panel B rather than going through the whole recruitment process again.

It would be very helpful if they indicated what position a person was on the panel.

Regarding the bit in bold, did the person on the phone say Panel A and Panel B? Maybe they're reading this thread
