    Soft goal really.

Very surprised Ramires isn't starting for that team.

He'll work as hard as anyone, has good positional sense and would bring some pace/threat when they're attacking.

They look a fairly functional team tbh and could do with him.

So, that's the World Cup over for another four years then, yeah? Well done to Brazil. All that fuss for just one match. Unbelievable, really.

    I want to like them.

Play-acting & compliant officials make it hard though.

Ah, I thought you were saying that it was like that at every tournament. My mistake.

    Now i'm confused.

Are you saying the do play the opening two games of the group on day one or they don't? :o

I wouldn't worry about Brazil too much. Netherlands or Chile would do a job on them in the second round if they keep playing like that.

It's attitudes like that that ensure that the men's game will never be taken seriously. You should be ashamed of yourself for objectifying this beautiful dance.

Not if the refs keep giving Brazil soft penos.

If Croatia had a better finisher, like Mandzukic who was suspended, that game would have been over before the penalty was even given.
Van Persie, Huntelaar and Sneijder would destroy David Luiz, and Silva can't do it all himself. If Chile got through instead, you may have a point.

Lol. I'm saying that they sometimes do. I thought you meant that there were two games played at every other opening day.

There was only one game played on the opening day from all the World Cups I can remember ('86 onwards) until 2006 when there was two and again in 2010.

Also it used to be the holders I think that opened the tournament until 2006 when it went to the hosts opening the tournament.

    There, sorted!
