Help with fake tan!

    Hi everyone,

I've got a wedding coming up in a few weeks and I'm going to be wearing a knee length dress so want to give my legs, arms/upper body a summer glow!
Thing is, I don't usually wear fake tan so I'm pretty much an amateur. I'm not particularly pasty white...when I'm on holidays I go quite brown... But unfortunately no holidays before the wedding and I definitely need a colour.

My question really is do any of you have any recommendations for a total newbie? I'm not going to a salon to have it done... I don't really have the money and to be honest I want a nice natural glow... I really don't want that obvious fake tan look!

Usually I just use the st tropez gradual tan body moisturiser. Would you guys recommend I just stay with this? I was thinking of getting the Sally Henson spray tan for my legs as I know it's meant to be very good but I've also heard of the brand cocoa brown?? Any other suggestions??

I'm going to do a practice run before the real thing to try avoid any major disasters but would really appreciate advise from you more knowledgable ladies!

Also any tips re: exfoliating/moisturising and showering to avoid streaky tans?!!

Hi. I don't tan and have pale skin. I have never had a spray tan. I use Dove summer glow. It give a natural glow and lasts for days. I usally put it on at night and wash it off in the morning. It gives a great sunkissed glow without looking orange or streaky. For my legs for a night out I use sally hansen airbrush legs but have been known to use it all over. I love it as it doesn't smell andit always looks even. It makes your skin look flawless.
I tried Cocoa Brown once found it hard to apply and hated the colour.
    Hope this helps

Hi, im a disaster with fake tan of any type but I decided to give cocoa brown gentle bronze a go and have to say I cant recommend it highly enough! Its a gradual tan but you can see colour from the first application. Its very easy to apply but definitely still use a mitt as it does stain your palms - it goes on like a moisturiser and you can use it every day or every other day depending on how dark you want to go. I got loads of compliments on how natural looking it is
    Hope that helps

+1 for Dove Summer Glow. You can pick it up for 6ish euro in Boots or Dunnes but they sometimes have it on offer for about 3 euro.

It's great if you're not comfortable with tan and have a while before the event. I'm pale as a ghost, don't particularly like fake tan (the smell makes me feel ill, the Dove one has a fainter smell than a spray tan once it starts developing) but I like it for work. I normally just exfoliate, stick it on before bed, shower in the morning and then reapply every night until I get the colour I want. After that, I normally top it up every few days if it starts to fade. Doesn't go streaky unless you miss a large section or put on clothes straight after applying.

The Light one doesn't give an obvious, orange, tanned look and can take a while to build up, but it's more foolproof than the Medium-Dark one.

dove summer glow or cocoa brown gentle bronze all over, bit of sally hansen on your legs if you need it and for your face clarins do a really nice facial tanner that is not a deep tan just a nice glow and is not too dear.

Oh and the bourjois 8 in 1 bronzing BB stuff is amazing for your face too. if your using the daily gradual tanners make sure you wash your hands afterwards as they will still stain you.

Do a few trial runs before the wedding and see how dark you are with a few days application of products and you will know then how much to use on the day.
