Honda civic turning but won't start

Hi there. Twice in the last month my 05 diesel civic wouldn't start with the engine turning strongly. The engine was warm (dont no if this has anything to do with it). I had to push start the car. No lights come up on the dash. Just want to find out if anyone has experienced this and if so what the source of the problem is?

possibly a faulty crank sensor?? they usually cause trouble when the car is warm
