The torrential that just passed to my north just produced 2 rumbles of thunder

Looking like it's kicked off in a few different areas now.

One problem with it is there are only a couple of stations in Ireland so a lot of the strikes here aren't picked up on that map.

The Met Office ATD system shows a more accurate picture. ATD is used on Sat24, Netweather etc.

I'm growing to dislike Galway very much these days. :-(

Getting very dark in Castlebar and can now hear the thunder in the distance.

intense thunderstorm passed over louisburgh about an hour ago,fork lightning, rarely seen here.

Some of those most aggressive fork lightning I've ever seen in Ireland today around south Mayo just after 4.30pm onward. Cars pulled in (including me) in Kilmaine village due to constant forks making ground contact, followed by the heaviest showers imaginable.

I adore watching lightning, but this was too close and intimidating for my liking!

I'll be surprised if there wasn't damage done.

If those storms were in The Greater Dublin Area this would be in Meltdown
