The majority of this stuff about Suarez is coming from Marca (the spanish S*n).

I wouldn't believe any of it tbh but we would be foolish not to consider any bid near 80m.

85M sterling would go an awful long way towards landing Suarez i'm afraid.

Getting in excess of 100M for him is a dream unfortunately.

And before you bring up Bale, Suarez is 27 now so that would have obvious considerations for any would be purchasers

Misread that as 85m for Sterling.

This thread is going to be continuously filled with talk of Suarez being sold until he is sold and then replaced by talk of how we should never have sold Suarez and wasted the money.

Tiresome, as there not a hint of him leaving and unlike last year he has said he is staying with Liverpool and not spoke about moving.

Absolutely pointless talking about Suarez leaving. No bid has been received and he's already told people around him that he has no plans to leave and intends to be at Liverpool next season.

If a bid eventually materialises then we can cross that bridge when it comes to it but some on here are already saying we are spending the Suarez money when it was said weeks ago that we had 60M to 70M to spend plus player sales. We've spent 15 so far so cool the jets for a while people.

I'll probably get slaughtered for this but if Real make a decent bid for Suarez (£80m+) I can't see the club saying no....

I would like to think that his attitude has changed (since this time last year) and he may have a bit of loyalty towards us now...

I know there is no loyalty when money rears it's head but I would like to think (in a perfect world) that after the season we had, he would stay another year....

I would have been inconsolable had he went last year, but this year I don't think it would be as hard on me to take in if he goes to Spain....

He's 9/4 to go to Madrid this summer. 3/10 to stay

That's the thing though do the club have to accept a bid of that amount. We told Arsenal to do one last year. I wouldn't like to the message it would send out by us as a club that would sell their best player. Examples are there for the powers that be at Anfield and see what happened to Spurs. Its not easy replacing a player of world class quality and a match-winner.

I know it was different under Hicks and Gillett but the domino effect and mindset change in selling Alonso, Mascherano in less than a year had ramifications on our side for the best part of 2/3 seasons in attracting top class talent and been replaced by far lesser talented players.

One Suarez = New Main Stand.

New Main Stand has another 50 seasons left on the wing at Anfield.

New main stand = already sorted.

Selling Suarez would send out the wrong message but unless the offer is of Kaka/City offer a few years ago then I would begrudgingly accept.

After seeing how the spuds got on this season minus Bale it scares me in a lot of ways of losing Suarez, if he is a 30 plus goal machine ideally we would need 3 x 10 goal a season lads to replace him, who would obviously have to be rotated also...

I hope he has his heart in Liverpool though and won't go anywhere after the world cup, I would hope he doesn't force a transfer either, I wouldn't want a repeat of a sulky Nando in Suarez....

I think that will be tested but he has sent out the right signals when he has spoken himself. His lawyer(proposed lawyer) said isn't helping at all.

I does say something about the crazy money in the game.

I don't think it sends out the wrong message though. If someone is silly enough to pay that for a player, it makes sense to sell. I would rather Liverpool were astute than pander to the sentiment of fans.

I think you can replace Suarez. I think you can replace any player. If you're smart.

How would it send out the wrong message?

Did Utd send out the wrong message selling Ronaldo to Madrid?

Don't underestimate Marca, I thought the same last summer and the more they printed the more the reality grew that our star man would be leaving. Just saying.

Talking about what to do if Suarez leaves is as pointless as creating hybrid starting XIs with linked players.

    Kroos Lovren Sakho Moreno

Glad to see work has begun. Had a friend living just a few streets away from Anfield last year and he said it wasn't the prettiest sight at times. It was well rundown with lots of boarded up houses. I think the way the club handled things in the past was wrong, hopefully things moving forward and the area gets rejuvenated.

Exactly why I was adamant that Suarez wouldn't leave last year when everyone here was sure he would - Madrid was the only realistic destination, and all the noises coming from Spain were about Bale.

I think there's a decent chance Suarez will go. Madrid usually get their man, and I would imagine that there probably is interest there.

If I have to call it right now I would say he's a Liverpool player come September but I don't say that with a strong degree of confidence and I can't share the confidence of the "Suarez is definitely going nowhere" posters.

A long summer ahead anyway and it's possible Madrid's heads will be turned by the latest new shining star to emerge from the World Cup whoever that may be. Suarez is still injured, and it's possible Madrid will bide their time

Marca are bound to get it right sometime if they keep running the story every window.

    It's a rag

It's everything Ferguson accused them of being.

Real want Suarez and they want him this window if not next.

    simple.

Hendo Sterling to jump on his ankle, you wait! :pac:

My own belief is that Liverpool probably already understand that Suarez will give the club just one more season and that when Real or maybe Barca call again next summer he'll be off without any rancour for a hefty sum.

I wouldn't begrudge Suarez a move tbh. He should be winning trophies.

However, I'd love if he could give one more season and see what we can achieve with a better squad both domestically and in the CL.

Signing Alberto Moreno was all a ruse... we are actually going to sign the legend that is Javi Moreno.

Ronaldo has his heart set on Madrid different situation. After all that has gone on Suarez is now happy as happy can be.

The club turning around now and selling him when we are back in the Champions League would be a major **** up regardless of the money we received. World class players are few and far too come especially in the situation where we are trying to build something. Would be right up there with the mistakes we made in the past of letting players go before the time(Staunton, Houghton) and signing inferior players to replace them.

Rodgers has built the team around Suarez letting him go would be ridiculous putting that all in place and one fell swoop ripping it apart for the £££ the money we could make in the next 5 years off Suarez been at the club would dwarf the money selling him and that's a fact. Henry and co. are not thick business men, they have an asset that not many clubs in world football have today.

Suarez at the moment is on the level of Messi and Ronaldo, some may say that's rose tinted glasses, but the facts don't like. 54 League goals and 17 assists in 66 League games. That is not replaceable no matter how much money you get as Spurs found out, Suarez is match winner in his own right selling him his prime(not saying we will either) but if we were I will go on record to say it would be the stupidiest the decision we have made topping buying Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing for the money that we did.

Quite meaningless of course, at a PC while a Seville player, what's he going to say? "I'm off - ha ha!"

Exactly. Unless you HATE the club you'll never make a statement like 'G'luck lads I'm off' unless you can be guaranteed a leaning wall.
