Someone mentioned recently alright (Nuri or Kess I think) that Can was on a par with Henderson workrate wise

Wasn't me anyway. There are similarities for sure, but Henderson's workrate is on a different level and he is better off the ball. Can is better on the ball technically at least, and can spot a pass that not many players can pick out.

People who are making him out to be garbage or a nothing player are nothing more than simply wrong (Oats if you read this, you know I have time for your opinion, but think you're wrong on this one :)). Can is raw, but the physical attributes are there.. at the age of 21! Unpolished diamond might be the best way of describing him, kinda like Coutinho and Sturridge really when we signed them.. It's just his game needs maturing under the right guidance is all, to develop some consistency. He wasn't signed up by Bayern for no reason, likewise the praise he received for the most part for all of Germany's youth level teams doesn't get tossed aside for me. But as I said before, I rather we signed a more finish product than him.

I think the workrate comparison may have been Lallana rather than Can.

Fabio aurelio has retired. Classy player and gave us some great memories, shame he was made of glass. Wish him all the best.

I'm quite fond of those statsbombs graphics myself. Not overly complicated or superfluous and quite illustrative of basic player info (bearing in mind stats are never intended to give a complete picture.)

So assuming it comes off, Moreno would be a very good signing. Young, considerable cheaper than Shaw (I know that conparison has been done to death), and likely to improve when surrounded by better players. I hope he settles well, it will help having a number of Spanish speakers around. Seems like he's pals with Alberto, I wonder if the latter will be around this season? I don't see it happening unless we can't get a suitable taker on loan...

Alberto will certainly go on loan as his value is fairy rock bottom after the season he had so we may aswell loan him and see what happens. Think malaga are after him?

I know, right? You could actually imagine the tension and emotion of that build up.

I think Apple bought them at the right time, that will get a LOT of airplay...

I remember looking it at the time and saying Cech is miles away from the near post....i was still shocked he pulled it off. The precision of that shot is amazing. Nothing flukey about it as my man u supporting brother claimed at the time.

Alexandre Lacazette is mentioned in the guardian rumour mill but I can't see any real links that are current. The Lyon striker scored 15 goals in Ligue 1 last season. He also managed to bag two red cards. He is on the stand-by list for France if they lose a forward.

Can't see us going for another striker unless Borini leaves, which I don't think will happen. He knows the league, he's improved over last season and will give his everything when he gets a shout. Similar to Lambert.
    Perfect back-up strikers, IMO...

The Star (yes yes I know) are reporting Shaqiri deal under way. I think they just filched something off a Swiss site.

Edit - the story is two days old and the article is here - anyone read German-Swiss while craning head 90 degrees?

According to the girlfriend, he has said in an interview he wants to play for Liverpool. Also goes on to say he is training and getting ready for the World Cup.

Presumably we've moved on Shaqiri after our take-it-or-leave-it offer to Southampton for Lallana was refused. Have to say, I like how our club are operating in the transfer market, even if it means missing out on the likes of Willian, Mykitharian every now and again.

I don't know much about the players we've bought, but I am glad that we're getting our business sorted out promptly.

Lads its the Star and the Mirror. Dont get your hopes up yet.

Its great to see the club doing what seems like great business early , but a bit wary that in a drive to strengthen the squad for league, cl and cups we dont get too overexcited and swap 5/6 first teamers for guys coming in ie ala spurs or something
Anyway roll on next season :)

Southampton will look pretty silly if we seal Shaqiri for £15m after them trying to hold out for £25m+ for Lallana.

i know they get to potentially keep the player then, but still.

i like Lallana a lot, and would greatly welcome him whatever the fee, but there's no way he's £25m+ worth of player yet.

If we dont buy him I would be surprised if he stays at Southampton now that the manager is gone and Lambert....and probably a few others by the end. They are starting a whole phase of rebuilding and I suspect he will want out regardless of us.

We said the same about LDV, but to be fair Can is more established than any of them.

I know it's probably glaringly obvious but who is LDV?
